2006 Mustang Strut and Strut Mount Replacement (Mustang Build Episode 2)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I'll show you step-by-step how to replace the struts and strut mounts on a 2006 Ford Mustang V6. The tutorial is applicable for all 5th generation mustangs between the years 2005 - 2010 and all 2011 - 2014 mustangs being retrofitted with 2005-2010 struts. Even though the work is being performed on a Mustang, the steps are similiar for most vehicles with front struts.
I'm an average person like you. I don't have any formal automotive training. If I can do it, you can do it.

@ItsDarkvoidOG, only the front of the mustang is struts. The rear has shocks and they are easier to replace. Check out my channel as I have a step-by-step replacement video for those as well.
Just an FYI Jeff, the 2 strut to knuckle bolts are actually 18mm and not 21mm as mentioned when you were removing them.

@Solitaire 514, thanks for the correction.
It’s a good video but there are other videos showing how to do this without having to takeoff the rotor and brakes

Good observation Justin. I was already replacing them which is why I removed them. But I will say, that having the rotors removed definitely provides easier access to the strut lower mounting bolts.
I had new kyb’s installed but then weeks later or so there’s clunky noise that started on the right whenever I steer to turn wheels. Any idea what the problem would be?

My first inclination is that either the strut mount malfunctioned or a bolt was not tightened to the correct torque spec and has come loose.

1973cableguy, glad the video was helpful for you.
I know this will sound like a stupid question but I took my 06 mustang in for an alignment and was told that the steering knuckle as well as the ball joint needed to be replaced ... I had been in a very minor accident that caused the top of the wheel to be tilted in. So my son replaced it from a salvage 05 mustang. Side note: the shop said the strut and bracket needed be replaced) how can you tell if the knuckle needs to be replaced? Thank You

Mary Duff, if you were in an accident, there are many parts tied into the suspension that could have been affected and all of the items you listed are possibilities. While a bent steering knuckle is more rare, it's not out of the realm of possibility. Check out this old article I found that discusses alignment issues. www.brakeandfrontend.com/when-to-replace-steering-knuckles-and-arms/
