    That BMW engine was out of this world. Even with a lousy exit out of Ascari which helped provide a toe to the Renault, the BMW still managed to beat the Renault to the parabolica!

    The Renault did sound like it was hitting the rev limiter which would suggest that the top gear was too short. And the BMW-Sauber did seem like it had very very low downforce to be fast on the straights. But yeah, almost every engine on the grid was more powerful than the Renault, but the Renaults were more drivable. After the 18k rev limiter was imposed around 2008-2009 the Renault became very good. :)

    Juzh123 what are you talking about mate... Every engine has a rev limiter so it doesn't blow up, and that's what I'm referring to. As far as how high the FIA allowed engines to rev, that'd be 18K from 2009 onwards. So Cosworth's 20K, and Toyota's 19K engines were limited to 18K by the FIA. Renault dominated in the eight seasons of the V8 era by winning the title in 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. Maybe you were watching a different series than the rest of us.

    Lael_Da You think Renault helped Red Bull win all those titles? Red Bull has a different engine between 2010-13; it was called Adrian Newey.

  • @Lael128

    @Lael128

    7 жыл бұрын

    Abdul E Adrian Newey doesn't design engines 🤓 It's not one component that will bring success, but the whole package. Renault helped with blown diffusers, and by the time the paddock had caught on, it was too late. Newey has won most of his titles with Renault Power.

    Juzh123 I believe that this engine was hampered from the start and yes it's bouncing off the limiter they had for that race for whatever reason. In 2006 there were no limits. This is just the classic scenario where the car was just geared too short.
