I wasn't expecting it to blow away anything but least it's a modern car with an old school feel plus the Northstar is creamy smooth. Stay on top of the maintenance and it will be a great motor.

@@MikeB85my l37 in my 1999 DeVille concours is tuned to 7000 rpm with a Northstar performance pcm tune. If you head stud it with MLS head gaskets the bottom end will hold up to much more rpm with built heads on top of studs

They made this style DTS up until 2011. So as of now they are only 12 years old. Still plenty of time to get one.

I like it too. Let the engine soak in the torque band a bit and belt a meaty bass note whenever it can climb back up to the proper rpm. Makes for a dramatic acceleration, which is fun in its own charming way. Still pulls pretty good too looks like.

@@person1492 You need to start buying lottery tickets, because you're one lucky SOB. Northstars leak like a sheeve due to their split crank case design, puke coolant, and pull head bolts around 125K-175K. (After 04 the head bolt issue got better, but nowhere near acceptable.) Not to mention block cracks, water pump issues, oil burning, and the list goes on. On top of that it's always fun to try to find a shop that'll actually work on a Northstar. It's unfortunate because they're smooth, good sounding engines. Unfortunately GM built the Northstar to be complicated by virtue of being complicated enough to market against the Germans. The side effect of that was German reliability.

Has 160 on the dash and limits at 112. Who thought about that over at GM? Edit: I’m sure it can come close to 160 with 4th gear if someone ever decided to go that fast in one
