On a rainy cold day you show true grit, really impressed with your work ethic. Keeping track of all the different bolts on the gearbox to engine mounts is a pain. I have only ever changed two clutch’s and both took all day😫😫 I would much rather give the job to you. Thanks for taking the time to film, not easy.

Not used you before but from your work ethics top job bruv. You even used a thin punch to knock the bolt through preventing damage to threads whilst in the rain. Most people would have just hammered it out without the punch and without care. Well done 👍🏽

Was a mechanic 30 years ago. I managed to get a ramp and tools. Your video was invaluable in clutch replacement. Even blew minds of mechanics when no need to remove subframe as they had done previously, also had a giggle when they asked me if I required socket to remove driveshaft from hub😂. Only niggly bit was reattached linkage kept managing to put on 360 degrees out😢. Also if this comment helps anyone else on a ramp then do mountings in reverse as in remove top first and install last. Thanks Kevin you made easy work for me.

Brilliant video Kevin, really clear and helpful! I'm doing my clutch this week after problems selecting gears. Adjusted and greased the linkage, checked gear oil level, no improvement, but can get all gears by matching engine to road speed with the accelerator pedal (e.g. not using clutch pedal). Workshop manual says i need to support engine and remove subframe for access, but you had enough clearance not to do that?

  • @WMCS

Oscar Montero good observation... these gearboxes doesn’t have a drain plug. If the correct level of oil is in there it shouldn’t spill out. It stays down in the gearbox sump. As you’ve pointed out no clutch tool required due to the flywheel design. The clutch sits inside the flywheel and the pressure plate slots in and centres itself with the 3 side slots. Thanks for your continuous input on the videos. I’ll try and come up with a more retro intro for next season. 😁

Hi Kevin, i finally assembled the car. The gear box was not fitting because the disc was not aligned. I didn't buy SACHS, but i bought from autodoc cheaper version - Ridex. The clutch disc is actually 7mm smaller in diameter, hence more movement and misalignment. I positioned in the center and then tighten up the pressure plate bolts. The gear box fitted easy. I had problem removing the air, till i figure out the reservoir has to be full to the top. Unfortunately, the new clutch is slipping in the same way as the old one ... Kyle Mclachlan maybe back in the day ... but all tools are accounted for at the end of each repair. They are all in Slotted trays so it’s easy to spot any missing ones.

hey, is that a clark jack similar to the sgs 3 ton ones you can get for £70-80? my jacks bust and need a semi decent one for not to expensive . just checked your website and the amount of 5 star reviews you have! clearly do a good job inc the things people don't see like cleaning up ect.

you tube thanks for the review. Much appreciated. This jack I’ve been using for about 5 years now it’s a 3 tonne sealey pro. So are all of my tools. Don’t cost the earth but keeps going. They sell for about £90 with trade discount from euro car parts. I try and keep my work professional. Always tidy. Not a drop of oil on driveway. You’re right you can’t see that in the video. If I’m taking someone’s hard earned cash I make sure that they get a good service in return including being polite.

But the wind keeps lifting it off the ground and it’s a bit hard putting it up on my own. But the jackets and trousers I have are full waterproof I’m normally dry as a bone underneath. Even my safety boots are full water proof. thanks for the suggestion tho. Appreciate it.
