Floyd Walker - Fresno State didn’t lose. USC had to forfeit the game due to their using an ineligible player in Bush.

@ Dan Myers...I agree...Matt Leinart, Denzel White, and his receiving corps couldn’t do nothing...straight shut down...Reggie killed us with his big plays to keep them in the game but yes he was ineligible to play n who knows how much pete carroll got away with to the point he bounced out lol

@@gsppierre2800 can’t forget all the help from the refs too. The SC offensive line was holding all night long. Not to mention the one where he stepped out of bounds. This Bulldog defense was no joke. Straight savages. Marcus McCauley, Riley, Andrew’s and that big ass nose tackle to name a few. Sure, bush got some great runs off, but he got help from the refs the rest of them. I get emotional thinking what would have been had they pulled it out. They’d be like Utah right now.

One of the best games I've ever witnessed in person!!! Great college football game...Reggie bush was outstanding...Fresno had USC on the ropes all night!!!!

The world would've ended if Fresno St. won that night. WOW.

Pat Hills teams always had alot of talent and heart, this was a great game remember watching it. Always much respect to usc. Cali

One of the best regular season games I've ever watched.

No...this was the line in the sand for Pat Hill's time. The Bulldogs on his watch were NEVER the same after this game. This was Hill's apex...a scrappy team of guys who were developed, but ultimately came up short in the biggest of games.

As a Fresno State and 49er fan there is no coach I love to see lose more than Pete Carroll.

I agree. I was also there at the game. Too much Reggie Bush.

I was at this game. The dogs played so hard! It was the best I’ve seen them play and they almost pulled out the W too.

Absolute great game by both teams.

Bizarre how Fresno St fell off the map completely after this. It was almost as if people gave them too much credit for this game; they were getting kudos from everywhere and people talked about them as though they had "arrived" at the big-time after years of giving BCS-conference teams tough games. Then they lost all their remaining games that season and have dropped off into mid-major oblivion ever since.

It's easier to satisfy the mind than the body.

This was the only team i think that almost beat usc that year. I still to this day dont really treat it like a USC loss to Texas. Mainly because of Bushs lateral that git fumbled in that game. It changed the while complexion of the game. Texas went from getting ran all over to usc having no answer for Vince youngs scrambles

I was there great game, but reggie def stepped outta bounds on that cutback...

So much NFL talent on that 05 Dogs team at least 11 starters ended up in the league

Remember Reggie got the whole sleeve of the under armor ripped off and it instantly became the new style.

This game had me on the edge the whole night. I knew Fresno State was a potential trap game for SC that year. I think the next game was against the crosstown rival UCLA. I didn't realize until at least midway through that Bush was heading toward a historically great night. One of the most entertaining college football games I've ever watched live. Unfortunately that 05 USC squad had 1 too many of these all-time entertaining shootouts, which finally came back to bite them in the worst way in the NC game against Vince Young and those Longhorns.

The bush fumble in that game changed everything. USC was dominating on the ground until that point. They couldn't stop Texas, but Texas couldn't stop them. To this day, that lateral cost USC a natty

I would have to disagree here. The 2005 USC defense was replacing six starters including two All-Americans Shaun Cody and Mike Patterson on the defensive line. Their best corner (Eric Wright) left school and his backup Terrell Thomas blew out his knee in the season opener. Starting OLB Dallas Sartz also got injured in the season opener which caused him to miss the entire season along with Terrell Thomas. USC was forced to play freshman and a bunch of inexperienced players throughout the year.

The day in which Pat Hill did not care anymore. Then again, Hill never did care about games that he was supposed to win(Boise, Hawaii, Nevada, La Tech).

GuadaluP MorenO - Yeah, Pinegar was a good QB. Athletic, strong accurate arm with one (at least) major flaw. He locked in on receivers too much. He didn’t learn how to move or freeze safeties with his eyes. To be honest that is the case with a LOT of college QB’s.

Woulda coulda should've!!! As a 1999 FSU Grad....... I havnt been back to an FSU game since. We didn't get it in this one, didn't get it done against Boise AT HOME in 98 with David Carr either!! Just got sick of it y'all.....!!! 😷

Just found out that Fresno State will be playing USC again in 2014!!!

Probably one of worst defenses in Pete Carroll's tenure at SC. If it wasn't for SC's high powered offense that year, they probably would've lost more than just one game. I loved how the Dogs didn't back down one bit. It took an incredible showing by #5 (as an SC fan I refuse to say his name) to keep the Trojans in the game. No #5, no victory.

RonBurgundy209 - You got that right Mr Burgundy. Without the cheating/ineligible #5 Fresno State beats USC easily. But unfortunately for FS #5 did play. The fact that USC had the win “vacated” does nothing for the cheated FS players, coaches and fans.

2things 1, easy to big big dog with all the confidence in the world... when you're given 💰.. that swag n confidence deff showed on the field 2, I think USC led all teams in Defensive takeaways that season. Caused 4 pics this game

Clipcoug - Nice semantics, you must be a University of Spoiled Children fan and/or alum. Without the ineligible Bush Fresno State beats USC easily that day. End of story.

Fresno state was the better team that night...even tho Reggie was in the game n actually ineligible to play...he was the difference maker to keep SC in the game or else who knows it would of been one of the biggest upset in history of college football.
