I have an 07' loaded with the performance package. I bought it about 3 years ago with 61,000 on it. To date I have 80,000 miles. Though I had to replaced 1 catalytic converter which was under warranty, I haven't had 1 "major" issue with the car other than general maintenance. So far, this car has been very reliable for me. I'll keep my fingers crossed that I have many more years of reliability.

@@alexkyle6960 I traded it about 4 years ago. I really was a fun vehicle to drive and very reliable. I have the sport package with the navigation, Bose surround sound, woodgrain wheel and the whole 9. I would have bought another if they were still in production.

I own one just like it, same year and color. Have owned it for 2 years, awesome car, love the way it drives and the power will blow your mind. Have not had a single problem, 95K miles on it now and perfect. The only flaw is the headlights. You have to remove the whole front grill to replace the bulbs. The dealer quoted 800.00 to replace all the bulbs, since you have to remove the whole front grill, replace all the bulbs. Besides that, Super nice car.

Very nice! We can confirm that it is an awesome car to drive! ;-) Cadillac is well known for their expensive labor and parts. I guess that's simply a fact of life with luxury brands.

I love Cadi's but why would anyone tow with it? I understand it's powerful enough to tow something, but why put strain on a suspension that wasn't designed for towing? :-/

@114903889711989084196 I think that is because not everyone can afford a truck or has the space to park an extra vehicle. So for those people who want to drive a luxury vehicle but also need a hitch, they are installed on cars like these.

Some people make the mistake of towing in overdrive, which absolutely destroys the transmission!

I just found a BEAUTIFUL black on black, clean, LOADED AWD / V8 for only $7000 here in San Jose. My only question is, at this stage of the Northstar engine design fiasco ( !! ) did GM finally fix the coolant/oil leak issue or should I just not even consider it? It is SUCH a great car, it's a shame that GM did such a horrible job engineering the engine :(

  • @LCR

That sounds like a sweet deal! As far as the engine goes, one website says it well: "The Northstar was a sophisticated, European-style powerplant designed for 'premium buyers," engineered like a Swiss watch. If you treat it like a BMW or Audi engine instead of like an old iron-block truck lump, the Northstar should prove as sweet, smooth and powerful a partner ten years from now as it was 20 years ago." It is important that you treat and maintain the engine with care. Surely don't overheat it, drive it in low rpm's while it's cold and towards the end of your trip. Do frequent oil changes and throw in a cleaner once in a while. If that Cadillac is running fine now, it will most likely continue to run well if you treat it with care.

Luxury Car Report Thank you for replying. I get that one can't treat it like a Kia Rental (lol) but it IS kinda scary feeling like you are driving a time bomb. I'll check it out and go with my gut I suppose.

I understand, and we can’t guarantee you anything either, haha! A friend of mine has Chrysler’s 2.7 V6 in his car, an engine that’s known for black sludge. He does regular oil changes and has been driving it for well over 300k miles now without any problems. It’s always hard to tell.

I had the 05, exact same car. No problems until 130k when that old bastard T-boned me going 40, sniff, sniff. Changing out all of the front lamps to led was a beast because you have to remove the whole front bumper, but it was worth it.

@@TheToughLoveTarot The two other packages were the Luxury Package and the Premium Luxury Performance Package. If yours has the automatic windshield wipers, it came with the Luxury Package. Adaptive cruise and a HUD, plus special tuscany leather seats came with the Premium Luxury Performance Package. The STS in the video is not mine, we borrowed it to create that review. Unfortunately I can't tell you for sure if the advanced display can be built in afterwards. I do know the SRX can be converted from the Bose radio to the DVD nav, but it requires creating a custom adapter cable. It's not plug-and-play but it will work when properly connected.

I actually have a 2005 sts the only issue I had was when it hit 120,000 miles the exhaust censor went bad and caused my engine to automatically shut down but only cost me $200 so I don’t have anything bad to say just have to take care of it you know

I am finding the Northstar is not all that. At 100k I have an oil leak that drips on the exhaust and stinks up the care every now and then. The engine sounds like a ping but can't be due to me running Shell 93 octane in it and a pulley or power steering pump going bad with a strange whine. Pampered all it's life. GM at it's finest :(
