2004 Dodge Dakota 4.7 V8 Muffler Delete

I just cut the muffler out and clamped a piece of pipe in its place! $30 for a nice sounding truck, not too bad.

@@nate.hanlon Honestly I dont think I can give you a good answer on that. Ive had my 2003 since it was brand spankin new right off the assembly line, and its currently sitting at 125k miles. I personally have had very very minimal issues and reliability has been fantastic. But ive heard that others have had a rough time with them. Mostly transmission issues. Honestly I think it depends on its history. How previous owners have taken care of it from maintenance, how they drove it, and obviously mileage. Ive babied mine for 17 years now and I think that may be why Ive had so few issues.

The only thing about straight piping a dodge dakota is the way the axle and the hight I had problems with a straight pipe cause the muffler shop wouldn't do it cause it was to low to the ground and then I raised it 1inch and then they said the axle was weird and the piping wouldn't allow for a straight pipe. Only a down and side pipe.

Also you CAN get a delete properly and I think run just basically straight pipes just about but you have to take it to a very good tuner and tuners are $$$$ so ik you sound about my age so best thing to do is make a list put the cats back on and do it step by step, honestly Cams are decently reasonable for the money I think a good setup can be done within $1000 but I'm also going to run headers on mine, most likely a 212x cam with Gibson headers maybe a 3rd cat delete or high flows and as far as exhaust probably a borla, magnaflow or flowmaster catbacks haven't got that far yet though I don't care about the pipes right now I've got good flowmasters from the last guys exhaust job. But you need to adjust the computers and have some back pressure to get that truck running right. I'm probably going to be about 300-310 horsepower once I do just that. That's about 70ish over stock on these trucks I believe

If you want to hear a good sounding Dodge Dakota I can't remember his name but just type in Dodge Dakota 212x cam and it's the guy with like a black or dark Dakota and he races it on camera and idles and shit it sounds great he talks about his setup in description I believe

So i bought a big jacked up piece of shit f250. I saw my grandpa today and man he is getting old but I looked at him and it just reminded me of the truck. I would do anything to go back in time and get that truck from him instead of the truck I did....

Straight piping a Dodge Dakota the cheap way isn't good my friend.. that truck has 3 catalytic converter and 4 o2 sensors and I believe 2 heater circuits I know there's at least 2 heater circuits. You will entirely fuck up your truck running it with no back pressure put it on a Dyno I bet you aren't even hitting 200 horsepower at any RPM right now. I've been fixing this electronic shit for a while now on Dodges and Dakota's mostly. Pain in the ass PCMs are expensive coils arent fun o2 sensors sure aren't fucking fun and heater circuits I haven't even touched that yet but I'm throwing 2 codes on them. When I do my Dakota exhaust sound it's most likely going to be a 210x or 212-212x cam and maybe high flow cats or just do a very careful and proper delete probably delete the 3rd cat and run catbacks on it. That truck no offense actually sounds like shit because like I said no back pressure it's fucking the fuel management and the PCM isn't reading what its supposed to and unless you have just said fuck it and cleared the codes the bad idea, I bet you can run it on a scanner and throw 5+ codes and if nothing else flip the key 3 times probably won't tell you anything there but maybe I know I got a p0486 *don't quote me on that* which is my fuel sensor shit so it's telling me I have no gas on a full tank and full gas on empty and it's a bitch to fix them. But I bought it for $1100 clean quad cab like yours but it's also 4x4 white and like a dark charcoal interior and just a beautiful truck, I even drove it all the way home. Definitely not bad for a 4 door 4x4 that looks brand new running and driving in 2018
