Such a Great video i wish people made them like this! I just hit a ratcoon this morning and messed up the front cooler to to trans and now have to replace that as well drain it Then full it when replaceing the filter .

Hi Carlos, yes the filter and fluid replacement really help alot. The car shift smoothly and runs like a champ. I also suspected that it may have lost transmission fluid over the years. Make sure the car is on when your filling with transmission fluid otherwise you will not be able to fill it correctly. Hope this helps.

I have a 2004 bmw 530i,I can move the shifter but the car won't move

You don't have to lube the gasket. It must be clean and dry !

Is the filter located in the pan? Does it come with the filter pre installed

I have a question .I did a transmission oil change plus gasket and filter on a 08 bmw i528 .after done I drove it work on my way back it wouldn’t drive no more my shifter pops back to neutral is there a reason why .I only have 128k miles transmission was working 100% good before oil change .does it have a sensor I juggle wile the process ??!??

Hey Enrique, do you have a check engine light on? It's only a sensor issue if a code comes up if the check engine is on. I would recommend removing the transmission pan and double check the filter is popped all the way up the inlet.

Something if that filter is not fully seated the oil is not circulating and the transmission is not getting the proper oil to shift correctly

@@kikiboxing4life Ok, recheck the fluid level on the transmission, if everything is good, check the battery with a voltmeter with the car on, it should give out 14v , and once the car is off it should put out 12.5v , having a bad battery or a battery going bad can cause transmission to fail as it's not getting the proper voltage. I hope this helps.

Hi, for this 5 series models, you have to fill the transmission fluid from under the car, open the fill plug and use a fluid pump to fill the transmission. When fluid starts to pour out that's when you stop.

Sound like it's low on transmission fluid. Try adding some transmission fluid like I did in the end of this video.

Hey, I had that problem. It would come up on the infotainment screen. Afraid of it being a major problem I took it to BMW and they told me cylinders were misfiring etc… long list of issues with the transmission. Anyway I took it to get a transmission fluid change and BOOM problem solved. Drives like a champ. Fast forward 5 years The reason why I am here is because I have somewhat of a stutter when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd. More like a hiccup.

Might be low on fluid, might be dirty fluid, could also be a clogged transmission filter. Worst case the transmission is on it's way out. Start with the cheapest and easiest: with the car running and at running temp, pull the transmission dipstick and take a look. The dipstick will show you both the color and the fluid level. Start with adding a little if it's necessary. If that solves your shifting issue you're good to go! Just keep an eye out for leaks. If it doesn't need fluid but the fluid is a really deep, dark red, you likely need to change the fluid. If you have the fluid changed you should change the filter too. If the color isn't so dark you may want to change the filter and again you'll be changing the fluid in order to change the filter. If you get to that point and you're still having shifting issues, your transmission is likely going bad. I'm currently having shifting and sticking issues as well. My transmission is leaking from undercarriage damage from it not having the belly pans. I just hope I can get around to changing the fluid and filter and hopefully stopping the leaks before it's too late! Best of luck to you!!

@@ericbill7128 I would definitely change the transmission filter and fluid. My bmw has about 150k and once I change the filter and fluid it shift smoothly. Also if you do this job check for any metal shavings once you remove the transmission filter, if your spot alot of metal shavings than you might have a different issue. I hope this helps.
