2003-2007 Honda Accord Throttle body cleaning

This is a 2006 Honda Accord throttle body cleaning video. You want to do this to help reduce shaking or rough idle issues and hesitation during take off. Carbon build up in the throttle body is a common thing and it's an easy maintenance you can do to prevent problems in the future. If you plan on removing the throttle body from the vehicle and clean it that way, you must do the ECM/PCM Idle learn procedure to get the vehicle to proper idle specs.

    DONT PUSH IT OPEN WITH YOUR FINGERS! , turn the key to power on, dont start it, power on. push the gas pedal and it will open. Wedge the gas pedal down or have someone push it for you. Open and close it as you spray the 2 sides where the butterfly spins. That’s where it gets sticky and needs to be sprayed while you opened and closed it until it loosens up and smooths out like new again.. apretiate the video for an example to send to a friend tho.. ✌️

    I did it two hours ago to my car and I did not touch the butterfly. Don't touch the butterfly, period! It did work. I removed the negative battery connector first before taking everything off. In the meantime, I also cleaned the mass air sensor with an especial spray. Let it dry for 5 minutes. Put everything together and boom, the engine light is gone! 10 minutes process. A mechanic wanted $120 dollars for that crap. I was like yeah right. It does not sound that hard! Total cost $9 dollars to do it yourself.

    @@artcore9886 i think its lucky. What happened to me with what I did. 1. Unplug battery 2013 si navi dealer said no code needed to be pressed. 2. Unhook necessary components to access throttle body. 3. Me i pushed open the throttle plate. 4. Used wurth intake cleaner 5. Bolt everything one 6. Run like crap jump 1k to 2k. 7. Drive it hard nothing happen.. Bring home. Repeat 1. 2 step just spray outside the plate. With wurth again. And I spray directly on the mass air flow sensor Put everything back. It idle. For further cleaning. There is a intake manifold vacuum.hose. I hook it while running and quickly spray twice dont hold it Let rpm shoot up high. Check.engine light will come.on. after two shot. Plug it back or let the car stall and die. And unplug battery it turn off the cel :). And relearn the car again for 15 mins or 30 mins. After till this date from 7200 rpm was factory and I got 7400 something rpm. So extra 200 rpm. I hope it made sense.

    +Chris S IACV is only on 03-05 year model. I think they went away with that on the 06-07 models. The 06-07 Models, they use the throttle actuator to maintain idle speed instead of the IAC valve. And the throttle position sensor only applies to 03-05 models, the 06-07 is integrated with the throttle actuator I believe.

Getting to the issue, after cleaning it and putting the things back together, I noticed my rev goes really high when I start it say for around 2k until 3k rpm, and I also noticed that the idle stays at 1k. Lastly, downshifting of the auto tranny became jerky from 3rd to 2nd, I actually felt the deacceleration in an unusual way. Please help me out cuz I don't think it's normal for a car to do that. Watched your video and cleaned the throttle body on my 2003 accord 2.4 today. As I opened the throttle, I noticed some coolant in the bottom of the intake plenum. Without removing the body, I just rolled up some shop towels and stuck them past the throttle plate to soak up as much as I could. Where do you think this coolant is coming from? I'm not running hot nor do I need to periodically top it off with coolant. It wasn't much coolant but it does have me concerned. Could the heater hoses to the throttle have corroded within the body and then leak into the plenum/manifold? Or should I worry about the manifold gasket. Asking you or anyone with experience on this k24A4. Thanks

  • @official0227

    @official0227

    i think that this just means that you have a coolant leak somewhere. I'm no expert but my 07 started making boiling noises from the radiator more than it even should be and that was leading to coolant flowing to other parts of the engine. ended up being a leak in one of the hoses and a clamp fixed the problem.

Used 4 tough towels and they all crazy black buildup Boy what a difference. It idle at 950rpm now at 650rpm no shaking at idle when stopping . +Sagar Swan something could be loose that's making the noise cause by the engine vibration from the idle. If there's no check engine light or performance issue, then that's what I would suspect. i was having that kind of the same issue. turned out to be low oil (oil level was not low enough to turn the low oil light on). this accord generation is known to build up carbon on the piston rings and subsequently burn oil. my vehicle was burning about 1.2 qt per 1000 miles. engine was rebuilt under Honda's warranty at no cost. just paid for an oil change in order for Honda to determine how much oil it was burning

  • @tele3phono

    @tele3phono

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Andres Leon btw, Honda wont rebuild the engine unless it is burning more that 1 qt per 1000 miles which they say it is "normal" and your vehicle is still in warranty

  • @NutzAboutBolts

    @NutzAboutBolts

    8 жыл бұрын

    Andres Leon burning 1 quart every 1k miles is insane since the oil pan only holds 4.3 quarts... I would suspect just a bad engine. Luckily my vehicle hasn't been burning any oil or I haven't noticed any oil consumption... sucks that you had that problem, these vehicles are very reliable and shouldn't be doing that, glad you got it fix under warranty. Thanks for the info and I appreciate letting others know of similar problems as well.

But first he has no clue you don't use shop rags to clean anything leading into the internal engine second never push open an electronically controlled throttle body Doing so can throw off its calibration causing sparatic idle loss of fuel mileage or cause damage to the internal components of the throttle body just to fill you on what that tube was that you said you didnt know its a ctsnke vase vent hose the square block that pushes into the intake hose is a filter you can solve all these problems by proper maintenance meaning chainging the Franke vase vent filter when you do tune ups assuming you take care of you vehical at all and remove the neg terminal before unplugging anything electrical that's just rule of thumb when doing any thing under the hood

    If viewers find that after doing this they experience high idle which doesnt disappear even after doing the idle learn:, try following these steps to do a reset and clear using the battery cable reset method: To do the battery cable reset- follow this: 1. Remove negative battery terminal. 2. Remove positive battery terminal. 3 Be sure you arent going to make contact with the battery, for later steps possibly even remove it from the car if needed 4. Connect the battery cables together either using a jumper cable or clamp them together if they reach. 5. Turn on your key to on (not ACC, to on) and yes there will be no lights on the dash. 6. Leave for 10 minutes. 7 Turn your key back to off, reconnect positive then negative and THEN follow the idle relearn procedure you will find pasted all over youtube (or just start the car rev 3k rpm until the car reaches temp and then leave it to idle 10 min). You will also need the radio code and possibly relearn your auto windows, for which there is good info for on youtube.
