This truck has been a challenge for me over the past couple of weeks as you will seen in the video. The lesson here is do your best to check the engine out before you install it and even that may not be enough. Be careful when doing a job like this especially if you are by yourself as you can get seriously injured if your not careful so work carefully and methodically and things should work out fine.

@Bushougoma I didn't think I had to say what was wrong with it as I ran it at the beginning of the video, it's not a diesel BTW. As for the damage I'm not sure if it happened because of a collision or someone dropped it at the yard.

@1elAguila Unfortunately I did have to take it back out and with the torque converter since I couldn't spin the crank to get the bolts back out. It's all good though, keeps me busy and out of trouble. Thanks for the comment amigo.

@timmytee12 Depends on the year really, some rear mains can be replaced by just dropping the oil pan and removing the rear bearing cap, for others you need to remove the trans. You might want to check out the series that I did on becoming and being a technician on my ETCG1 channel if your thinking of becoming a technician. Good luck and thanks for the comment.

@jazzy4me4eva It turned most of the way round before it seized up. I don't mind showing my mistakes on my videos as the viewer still gets the chance to learn something and that is the main reason why I do this.

@LayneC10 Normally you do disconnect the torque converter from the flex plate before removing the engine but in the case of the second removal of this one I had 3 of the 4 torque converter bolts in so I had to pull it out with the engine, luckily nothing was damaged in the process.

@Stick1370 It costs about 3 times more to rebuild than it does to replace, not to mention the time involved. I don't do rebuilds anymore unless it's something I can't find at salvage. I do hope to do some rebuild videos at some point however.

@finalman82 Nope, when I say locked up this engine was not moving like welded together not moving, if it laughed at 6' of breaker bar and pipe I don't think compressed air would do anything. @MrPiwo That is exactly what I think to be honest because they said they tested the engine, probably while it was still in the old truck. If they try and accuse me of doing the damage I have a video showing me putting it in as well as a few subscribers that I could tell the name of the yard to. They haven't gone there and seem to be cool for the moment but I'll wait till the check cashes to pass judgement. Thanks for the comment.

@OneMoeAtheist No, the reason is that an air tank cannot maintain constant pressure which is vital to the leak down working correctly. The truth is had I taken more time to check it out this might not have happened, the yard says they test every engine, I took them at their word but you can't always do that as this video shows.

Great videos, great philosophy when working against the machines, I feel your pain. I wanted to comment about the floor though. Throw down some masonite. It's cheap, strong and thin enough to roll your picker onto when starting from the concrete. You'll need to support the underside just a little at the threshold on the floor, broaden the bump per say like you have but for the width of the masonite so you can come across anywhere... not sure if I'm explaining it clearly. I know it works because I used to do the same with huge acid filled batteries in telephone buildings that were just as heavy as an engine. Hope I helped. Keep up the great videos!

@timmytee12 That would be the front crank seal, to replace that you need to remove the crank pulley which may require the use of a puller to remove from the engine, then it's just a matter of changing the seal.

I've taken the entire cab off the chassis to remove engines that have very limited clearance at the cowl. Especially on the 4X4 models. There is too little clearance for tools and hands at the firewall and bell housing, not to mention the exhaust pipes. Certainly enjoyed watching your video.

@xdyingfetusx69 I was about to suggest that you check a schematic because at the top of every diagram is the battery and the negative going to ground, remove the negative cable and you disconnect EVERY circuit in the system. The only reason you can catch a ground on the body is because this is the path back to the battery via the negative battery cable which is connected to the engine block and the body, without the cable connection there is no circuit path back to the battery.

@xdyingfetusx69 I don't see how as the battery is the alpha and the omega as far as automotive electrical systems are concerned, when you disconnect the negative there is no other path back to the positive to complete the circuit.

@pinoyALLmotorEVOIXMR You shouldn't need to remove the front end to get that engine out of that, as for assembling it in the car I'm sure it would be more difficult. Your best bet is to just replace it with a used engine as rebuilding it would be very expensive compared to just replacing it. Good luck.
