    Fantastic review! I’m going to visit one of these tomorrow to potentially buy it as my first car. Thank you for making such a detailed and honest review. I’m a bit nervous about trying out the clutch, as the car I’m visiting is diesel and I learned to drive in a petrol, but it’s good to hear that you got used to the clutch after a few months.

    Thank you for your comment and we are glad you liked the review. As with all cars it might be worth seeing if you have a mechanic friend or relative that can go with you to check the car over to make sure it is ok. Also visit www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/nissan/micra-k12-2003/good/ and see what’s good and bad about them plus there is a forum for them as well with people discussing their problems www.micra.org.uk/forums/k12-general-discussion.25/ might be worth a read so you are better educated about the car before you go and see it (especially as it is your first). Good luck and you will have to tell us how you get on.

    I think it's a great wee car. I have a diesel 3 door and I've had it for 13 years now. It's done 166000 miles and it has only let me down once when the wiper mechanism failed. My car only seems to take longer starting in really cold weather. Apart from that I would recommend it to anyone as it's great fun to drive. Thanks for the review and happy motoring.

    Wow that is some mileage! I sill have the one featured in the video and it has just ticked over 58,000 miles, which is minuscule compared to the mileage your car has. If it is any consolation, my Micra can take a little while to start in the cold and I do find that I have to activate the glow plugs a couple of times to get it to start quicker than it usually would. Also, I do have an inkling that I will be facing the wiper issue very soon but crossed fingers that I don't. It's still a great car though, cruises at 70mph with no problems and is still fun to drive!! Thank you for your kind comment and happy motoring to you also!! Cheers, Tony - WTA

    I’m going to view one of these cars tomorrow. I’m coming from a Vauxhall Astra big car but it was having many faults. I need a reliable car so I’m hoping this could be it. Just concerned as I drive many hours to work and on the Motorway so just not sure how it’d feel or handle. My old Micra bubble one years ago wasn’t comfortable but I had if nine years so hopefully this cute one would be ideal.

    I am going to be honest with you I went from a VW Golf to the Micra featured in the video and I found the adjustment very hard for quite a while. The clutch was higher than the Golf’s, it didn’t feel like the Golf on the motorway and it didn’t have the 5 doors like the Golf had (which was my fault for choosing the 3dr version). Not the best of starts but over time it has won me over. The main things I have had go wrong have mainly been suspension issues and they haven’t been too expensive to repair compared to the Golf I had before it. It has just had two new rear tyres and will probably need another wheel bearing to replace the one I didn’t change but other than that over the 3.5 years I have had it I haven’t really had many problems with it. I am not saying that it is a reliable model of car as there are many factors that are involved in having a reliable car with one of them being how well maintained it has been so all I can say is get it checked over by a friendly mechanic before buying if you can as that will at least give you some idea of how well it has been kept. The other thing is to visit a few Nissan Micra forums and ask what to look out for when buying a Micra, I am sure that there will be plenty of advice given. Also check out the following link which will give you an idea of what can go wrong with this particular model of Nissan Micra… www.honestjohn.co.uk/nissan/micra/2003/good Regarding the motorway, I recently drove 500 miles in it a week ago, over the period of one day, and it wasn’t too bad. It will not drive as well as a larger car like the Astra but it does feel very planted and capable of a long distance drive. The only thing I will say is that you do feel that you have done the distance but you have to remember that it is a small car at the end of the day. It is a good car to drive with plenty of character and with my Micra being a diesel the mpg is a little better than the petrol version plus it has a bit more kick to it. Overall, I do still like my Micra and have so far had a hard time finding a suitable replacement for it, which goes to show that it is a good car to potentially own. Hope the above helps! Cheers, Tony - WTA

    @@wetryanythingchannel Ah lovely that’s great to know Thankyou very much. My mum has a Micra and it’s lasted her a good five years and still going. She has had no issue with it at all and I’ve driven it just not on the motorway and not thinking about me having one so that’s why I ask. I’ll have to see how I get on but I do love my Astra but it’s been having a few money issues so not sure it’s worth fixing really. Also it’s diesel due to Ulez I think I need petrol now to be fair.

  • @wetryanythingchannel

    @wetryanythingchannel

    Жыл бұрын

    If you are going into a ULEZ area then yes I would agree that petrol will definitely be the way to go in this instance. I am not sure how a petrol Micra would drive as I only have my diesel one but from what I understand they are chain driven so you don't have to worry as much about the belt snapping and totalling your engine, which is a good thing. Try and see if you can take the Micra on a motorway near you and see what you think and then you will know from there. They are a fun little car and the running costs are not that bad but I have to say that all cars can go wrong from time to time and it is just finding one that doesn't cost that much to fix. Good luck with your search! Cheers, Tony - WTA

    great review, just a few questions, whats she like on a cold icy morning, how long does it take to blow warm air into the cab, are the headlights decent and bright or like candles, do the wipers clear the screen efficently/ how many miles do you get on a full brimmed tank? hope you can help.................

  • @wetryanythingchannel

    @wetryanythingchannel

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for your comment! I have found that while it has started on an icy morning I have had to turn the key a few times to get the glow plugs to do their job. It might be a dodgy glow plug that’s causing the issue but after a couple of key turns, to activate the glow plugs, it does start. Blowing warm air into the cabin takes about 10-15 mins with my Micra, other ones may vary. The headlights are ok, not as good as modern LED headlights but they do the job, it would be worth you viewing one at night time to see if you are happy with the brightness. Wipers wise I have put brand new Bosh ones on the Micra and they wipe really well and don’t cost too much to change and are fairly easy to do yourself. Finally depending on fuel prices it has cost around £40-45 to fill the tank and depending on where and how you drive I got up to around the 450 mile mark on a trip down the motorway and less when I have been mainly driving around the city. I hope my answers have helped and if you have any more questions then please send them along and I will gladly do my best to answer them. Cheers, Tony - WTA.

    @@wetryanythingchannel cheers Tony, I'm basically shocked ! I've NEVER had such a detailed well explained answer from a youtuber in my whole life, thanks very much, I would have considered buying 1 of these, but the 10-15 Minute warm up time on a cold icy morning which we experience on a too regular basis has put me off, but thank you for the helpful extremely well explained honest answer.

    You are very welcome. I may be a bit conservative with 10-15 minutes but as the weather is getting warmer I can’t really check to see how long it takes from really cold. If you have a chance and it’s still icy on a morning where you are then it might be worth popping along to a garage that might be selling one of these and see if it ticks all the boxes, obviously when any government restrictions have been lifted. Stay safe and good luck!

    Thank you for you comment. We still have the Nissan K12 Micra that was featured in our review, even drove it today. But have to say that we also have a Kia Rio that we have recently acquired and it is night and day in terms of quality and how it drives but going back to the Micra today felt good because it is a simple and easy going car to drive. Saying that though there’s nothing wrong with test driving a few different cars that are out there and seeing if anything tempts you to change. If you get chance you will have to tell us how you get on with your search for a newer car or if you kept your current Micra.

    hi, i have a 1.2 micra from 2007. It is the best car for the city.And when i say the best I mean THE BEST. It is light, easy to park, the visibility is unique, has top spaces for a city car, it is so reliable. BUT this car is not good to travel out of the city.All its advantages suddenly become disadvantages.

    Sorry to read that you had problems with your Micra. After owning mine for about 3 years I have found it to be generally a good car but I must admit that I don’t seem to get the best MPG out of it for it being a diesel so not sure what is going on there there but I am in the market for a 5 door car which I hope to feature on the channel very soon. The Polo is a great car, we had a 2007 1.4 petrol like yours and it it does feel well put together as you have mentioned. The only thing with it was that we found out it was an ex-rental later on down the line where we were having a load of problems with the engine. Nice car though. Diesel Astras are good also, as I had a 2004 version many moons ago and while not as well put together as a VW it was great on long journeys. Cheers, Tony - WTA
