Andre Johnson was toying with that Nebraska secondary. Best college football team I've ever seen. Vilma was everywhere on the damn field and those ball hawking DB's. Reed and Buchannan, smh.

They were passed over for the 2001 title game and got absolutely jobbed in the 2003 title game. This collection of players was the best group assembled and should have won 3 straight titles.

John Breneman yep...never liked the Canes but there is no denying they should have won the following year and would have killed Oklahoma had they rightly been put in the title game over FSU the year before. But, this was the best of the 3 teams.

I'm a HUGE Hurricane Fan,yet I'm just a much of a fan of college football overall be and I always give credit when due! And even if I don't care particularly for a program,if they put a dominant product on the field like the 2012 Alabama team...I have no problem admitting it... and I can't stand the tide!

Yes I totally agree with you they didn't have a weakness in any positions on that team. I went to all the home games that year at the old Orange Bowl. Most of the players on the other teams had looked exhausted by halftime. They couldn't keep up with Miami's speed. Great memories back then 🍊🏈

Miami would’ve stomped them. Not even 95 Nebraska could hang with the speed and physicality of that 2001 hurricanes squad. That was a junior NFL team out there, like grown men against little kids. The Canes were a machine. They had NFL players up and down that roster, many of whom didn’t even start in this game.

I miss Keith Jackson....nobody brought me into the college game like this dude.

I remember watching this game when I was 19 years of age back on January 3rd, 2002, with my late mother the year she passed away. Both of us were simply stunned at the talent the Miami Hurricanes had. It's an absolute travesty that they've done to the football program. Moving from the historic Orange Bowl in Little Havana to that NFL stadium so far away. The talent that night simply shocked and overwhelmed Nebraska. The talent on that team was unreal. Andre Johnson, Vince Wilfork, Jeremy Shockey, Joaquin Gonzalez, Clinton Portis, Ed Reed I could go on and on.

Greatest team ever. Its amazing/ridiculous how damn fast those Canes were. Don't want to ever hear about how fast USC or anyone in the last 20 years (to include Bama even) has been. This team was denied a chance at a title the year before and everyone knows if FSU could hold the Sooners to 13 points the Canes would have been able to as well and would have hung 40 or more on slow assed Oklahoma.. I still believe against O state that the officiating was very nfl style that night. O state held all freaking night. Oh well no one can ever take away from Canes nation the greatest team ever!

I’m a Georgia fan, but can’t deny the greatness of this team. Much respect for the players on this team. They had heart like no other

Clinton Portis was a ridiculous talent. Surprised he isnt still in the league doing hsi thing like Gore and McGahee are, i think he was the best and most talented of the 3, i think he should get in the best shape of his life and go try out for a team like the steelers for next season, he could do it and do it extremely well in my opinion. Unrelated but: im surprised Braylon Edwards isnt still doing great in the nfl due to his talent and the fact he's only 29 years old. Guys a freak of nature.
