I went to all the Miami home games that year, in my opinion they were one of the greatest college teams ever. They really didn't have any positions that were weak, very complete team. Miss those days and the old Orange Bowl, they haven't been the same in a while.🍊🏈

People in Miami bitching when the Miami Herald was torn down saying it was iconic. The Herald wasn't iconic...ORANGE BOWL was! That stadium was so damn loud, and it bred Champions.

Vick Sprained his ankle the week before against Pittsburgh in a game that they barely won on the arm of Dave Meyer. He didn't play the UCF game (1 week later) and he re-injured it against Virginia in a 41-20 victory. He was not even fit to play this week, but it would have been much more competitive if he was 100%.

Maybe. Butch Davis turned the heat down. I agree on offense it would’ve been a better game on offense for VT, but this U offense could’ve put up 63

Me too!! The Orange Bowl was the best home field advantage in college football history.

This game was on my wedding day. I remember watching it and getting ready.

Ken Dorsey looks so good in these games and even tho he had UNBELIEVABLE options to work with these throws are pretty accurate. He should have been a lot better in the NFL!

VT should of been in the Fiesta Bowl that year instead of Notre Dame would of gave Oregon st a better game than Notre Dame.That Miami team was loaded, VT was 5th or 6th in the final polls nationally this was their only loss of the year. Miami Beat FSU VT only loss to Washington that year, Miami had an argument to play vs OU that year. A 8 team playoff that year would of been interesting

This Canes roster and the 99 FSU roster were the only teams to beat Michael Vick at VaTech That’s how good they were: they did what nobody else could

Jeff I agree with you,we BEAT FSU and they get to play Oklahoma for the title we would have crush Oklahoma the same thing happened in 1988 we go play the Irish away and a fumble in the end zone cost us that game nowadays we know it wasn't a fumble no replay in those days Notre Dame goes and play West Virginia instead of having a rematch in a neutral period Lou Holtz New we would have destroyed them in a rematch,so we play Texas in destroyed them 49 to 3 those two times were the most hurtful to me,the NCAA had a hard on for the CANES

I will tell you this, as a VT fan the ONLY person to this day that scared the hell out of me each time he stepped on the field to play VT was Ken Dorsey. What an amazing QB he was. Granted he had a OL that could support his playing (pro) style, the dude ALWAYS made the right decision when throwing the ball. And to Who8allmyhohos - it's a matter of time before VT gets to a NC little buck. Count on it.

FSU getting to play in that title game was total thievery. we would have crushed Oklahoma. We were playing the best football at that very moment. We have had 3 or 4 titles stolen from us. That team was so loaded its ridiculous. What those players did when they got to the NFLl was off the charts.

However i do agree ya'll would've beaten that 2000 Oklahoma team because they were severely overrated, probably the most overrated undefeated team of all time (next to 2002 osu buckeyes). We only lost to the Sooners because we benched Minnis for academic shortcomings.

VT will always be a decent team..by decent I mean 9-4...10-3...perhaps even an 11-1 team...Big East champs..ACC champs..But the Hokies will NEVER win a National Championship...let alone win 5 National championships like the Hurricanes have won..MUCH respect to Frank Beamer but he stuck around WAY too long because VT had no history of winning before him...

Same reason Georgia and Oregon can't win 1 in the 21st century. Georgia and Oregon have won more games in the 2000s and 2010s than FSU, Texas, Clemson, Florida, Miami, and Auburn who have combined to win 7 of the titles in the 21st century.

As I watch this video and I think about our current team, the only missing link is "KEN DORSEY"... We have the speed at wide out... Maybe not like Santana Moss, but Ken Dorsey was devastating. The other thing was the O-Line. While Ken was there, he had an O-Line that was world class thanks to Art Keyhoe. When we get a great California or Pennsylvania QB, we will dominate again. The D is solid, the RB's are solid. O-Line is iffy, QB's just don't have the decision making ability.

Remember the Titans was made jus for the canes 🙌🏾

Butch did a great job with the problems he inherited. However his gameday coaching was a problem on a few occasions. I was at most of the games that year and saw the mistakes.
