Nobody could have done a better job. She really did show us it was okay to laugh again. I've always loved Ellen, but I loved her even more after she hosted the Emmys in 2001. What a wonderful, courageous person! They don't come any better than Ellen DeGeneres.

The "I guess this is business casual" line kills me every time!

I remember this. Everyone was so uneasy. Ellen made it okay to laugh again.

What a tough spot to find yourself hosting anything. The Emmy award show had been delayed due to 9/11. Ellen found herself needing to bring America together and provide some relief with humor while acknowledging the tragedy our country had gone through. I thought she was amazing ... and still do.

It was actually postponed _twice._ Initially, these awards were to be held the Sunday after the attack. Its rescheduled date was for October, only to be postponed a second time just hours before the ceremony was to have started.

I remember thinking I was gonna break a rib I was laughing so hard when she came out in that Bjork outfit,lol.

Best comedian of all time! Her timing is unmatched!

Nah girl. Steve Martin was before Ellen. She left our wonderful Ellen D for a cameraman that I forget the name of. And that cameraman was a member of Ellen's stand-up crew back in 2000. Is'nt that painful?
