2001 Electra Glide Drive Belt Change

This was my first time changing my drive belt on the bike, a rock got in there and shredded my old belt. I'm not a master mechanic, just a guy with the manual and some tools and a drive to not spend a ton of money at the dealership. I used a few other videos and the factory manual to do this, it wasn't the hardest thing, just a time consuming mess. Id's say tackle it on your own if your bike is as old as mine.
I'm not an expert, this is just to let you know what you're about to get into. This took me 10ish hours to do at a slow pace taking my time.
Some key notes that I learned:
Install the starter jack shaft before you put on your clutch basket and compensating sprocket
loosen your clutch cable before removing your clutch basket, be ready to adjust the clutch and be prepared to adjust your clutch nut after this job
good torque wrenches and a factory manual are key
be prepared to spend double or triple the amount of time you expect on this job if you've never attempted it
it's a good idea to replace all your seals when removing your primary as well as all bearings accessible, I did this off camera
ALWAYS disconnect your battery negative if you're not sure if it will be a problem.

I don't remember off the top of my head, I do remember I had to order the socket before the job. I appreciate your feedback! I just make these to show people what they're about to get themselves into.

@@kirkdecker7919Primarily in Poland, imperial keys are difficult to buy. Second, clutch side wrench must be narrow and long because it will not fit into the hole. I have a lot of documentation but before I order the wrenches I prefer to be sure. Many people say that oil is dripping from the old Harleys. This is not true - you have to modify a few details and the problem disappears, but there is no written how to do this...

While the belts are mostly reliable.... Anyone who's done this job can appreciate how a chain and master link can be a better option... Particularly with high torque / non stock engines! This is ridiculous amount of work to change out a wear item.

Yea, but you got this! It took a while and it was the 1st time I did it. Grab your favorite beverage and take it slow. There are a lot of opportunities to do other maintenance while you're there too.
