I feel like we now live in a culture that would rather be stuck in creative stagnation forever than make something innovative and visually interesting at risk of being made fun of for not being "mature" or "practical" enough.

I think as well, is that now that technology is ubiquitous enough in our lives, the lingering remains of minimalism on design shapes, and tech companies being a major lynchpin for stock markets, there's no incentive to make tech inviting, stand out or attention grabbing. the best most of these things can be is not stand out and be slightly friendly looking.

We honestly made it that way, LG was still really creative before it shut down because none of us bought their phones.

Because creatives don't get paid for their ideas now. They just recycle the same "sleek glass brick". The PS5 is a great example of sleekness being more important than something visually interesting. Even in custom built PCs the trend seems to be "much glass box with LEDs" or "muh pc case is from the 90s lmao" basically no creativity, and if you did come up with a different idea it's either rejected or ignored l
Yayyyy xbox 720 is still being mentioned all these years later. That thing was one of the biggest memes of its time, and we didn't even know what a meme was yet.
I'm surprised there hasn't been an AVGN episode on that Apple console.

probably because its fairly rare, only 42000 units produced. Goes for quite a price on aftermarket, so itd be something more for tech enthusiasts than actually playing games, it only had a few on it
Honestly I think that iconic 2012 iPhone can and should be able to be made nowadays

I remember wanting a Sony Rolly so bad as a kid so that I could bring it to a party and instantly become the star of the show. Also even though the Xelibri phones were flops, the idea of phones being a fashion accessory still technically exists to this day with some phones having uniquely coloured and textured backs, leather backs and even custom skins and cases from third party companies like dbrand.
You don't know how happy you've made me when you mentioned the Nokia Morph concept, easily one of the coolest things I've seen
Wow, this video moves fast, just as I think of what I want to hear, Extramint dives in. I remember the cautionary tale of the Pippin... don't mention the Newton!
1:19 Competitive pricing means that the company lowers their prices to compete/to try and get more sales than their competitors. Apple's pricing is famously not that.

I love going on the decade old bloggy news websites and seeing all their predictions its awesome and cool but sad we dont have that future that was so cool
i remember when in the early 2000s everyone thought the next game boy would have a pause fast forward and rewind button like some kind of Walkman

A modern Apple gaming console would cost over 3k, there would be a grand total of 8 games ever made each costing around $500, and every hippster would want one...
Honestly the Semen phones look very visually interesting, but i understand why they failed.
Only 10.5k subs? I bet that decimal moves over one at least
loved the video, too short
"Apple's competitive pricing" 😂😂 Apple are frauds.
4:58 the pc case in the bottom right was a real thing, Microsoft used a basic pc case (modified to look cool) to house the XBox hardware for testing things
My parent would share video's like the one in 5:15 via the black berry massager (BBM) all the time saying this would be the next big thing. What's funny is that there was a Samsung Android device that has a build in projector called samsung galaxy beam around that time.
I’m still sad we never got an Xbox 720. Could have continued with 1080… Xbox 4K. It would have tracked with screen resolution. Going back to One will always just confuse me. Like it’s gaslighting the previous models out of existence Maaaybe it’s a “tech” thing where MS viewed the previous versions as leading to the One. But it’s a bit wild to discredit a bunch of memories made with the previous consoles as “oh yeah? Those were just beta builds.”
Oh god I can hear that song that played in EVERY concept and game tutorial back then that wasn’t Darude Sandstorm
i beg someone tells me the intro background synth music. haven't heard it for years
I think Apple would build a wildly good console. Imagine the M4 with a cooler at 60w like the larger consoles. 24 gigs of ddr7 would run side by side with the future consoles.

Honestly $1000 for an apple console seems pretty reasonable considering their phones are often more than that. But then again, apple back then probably wasn't price gouging ike they are today.
I wanted a Gamecube Portable so bad back then
Someone actually made the GameCube portable in real life and it actually worked
What is the song at the minute?? 1:18
I remember being about 10 and thinking "wow, did these people get a massive concussion and are high on pain pills?" Seriously, some people have no clue what goes into designing a computer or its chassis.
Pippin almost sound the same as "pépin" (sound like paipain or paypain). And "pépin" mean apple seed in french.
Someone made a portable gamecube based on the one seen in this video
I was there

If you're gonna have concept cars, why not have concept consoles?
I wanted those 2012 iPhones 🫣
I remember when I was younger and I would think that the next console would look like that 😂 but now I think it's dumb
Me watching ps5 leaks in 2019: wowwwwwwwww
They really should have called the Xbox One the 720.
