Thank you sir!! Means alot!! It was a fun build and I have alot more i can clean up and replace

I kept my 01 rear plastic, subframe, and put a new seat on for an 01. It fit on an 08 oversized tank with minimal bunching up of the fabric. I used 1/8" thick aluminum and made brackets for the tank and shrouds. I kept the rear swing arm also. I used all newer SSS suspension and had new race tech valves and springs installed. All front fenders and fork guard plastics from 03 to 23 bolt right on to the SSS forks and triple tree. I also used newer front brakes and lines from a newer 250f.

Sorry just found the video. I have an 02 yz125 would the forks, rear brake setup, rear swing arm, front master cylinder and front fender and number plate from a 2013 yz250f just bolt on to my bike?

where did you find that airbox and about how much did you pay for it. I want one of the newer models but can only find them at the price of 50-60 dollars

Rocky Mountain ATV has a full Polisport Restyle kit that comes with the air box and all other plastics! Check it out! Only fits 02+ bikes tho

Polisport plastics is what I use!

Did you like the 2009+ 250f swingarm? What’s the differences? I put the 2005+ swingarm yz125 on my 2001

I think its great, big upgrade from the 2000, not sure what all the differences are but definitely feels better and I believe its lighter.

Has anybody done this and was able to run the newer style air boot?

If you don’t mind me asking, but how much did everything cost to do this? I’m trying to get my 2001 to look as sharp as I can but no clue if it would be too expensive

All stuff up to 14 or so will just bolt on. 2001 was the first year of the new style. No extra work needed it will all line up

Hey man just asking why would I have to get a newer subframe I have a 01 and I have bought 2020 airbox and 2020 rear fenders and I’m about to buy a 2002 seat with 2002 gas tank so could you explain why I would need the newer subframe, thanks

@@yooolucid1350 so with the 01 along with older models, there’s a few things why the subframe is most important. 1. If you get an 02+ seat it is shorter by about 3-4 inches so the seat will be no where close to bolting on. 2. The new airbox might fit but not smooth as the subframe is a complete different angle than the 02+ and if you get the airbox mounted the newer rear fender also will not mount correctly. There’s a few other smaller reasons but those are the big ones! Hope this helped, if you have any other questions let me know

Yes but you need the front fender as well! Just need to redrill hole’s

In order to put the restyle kit on you have to do everything I did in this video then get the 2002-2014 polisport restyle plastic kit.

I have a 2001 yz125 can I use a 2002 gas tank so I can put better looking plastics on the front? I’ll use zip ties to to secure them to the radiators

I believe so but you will need to fabricate a little mount bracket as I did in the video for it to mount. Only reason it might not work is it might end up needing the 02+ seat and then you'll need the 02+ subframe.

Yes but you have to use the 250f linkage as well

Yes it did, just need the 2014 triple clamps for the forks to fit!

02+ seat, gas tank, and subframe. Then you can do 2002-13 plastics or get the restyle plastic kit.

I wouldn't reccommend doing this, unless you get a steel frame bike for super cheap. Sell your bike, and put that money towards a newer 2005+ yz 125.

A lot of people actually prefer the steel frame over aluminum. Only reason I'd want a newer one is the suspension on the 06+ and the 05 + is 6 speed. But in that case my 2000 only cost me 3k and I have a 6 speed and 2014 suspension. But you don't have to do any fabricating or Welding on a 02-04 to this. They already have the updated seat, tank and frame.

@@MintyMotos my 09 cost me 3k as well, and after selling all the fancy after market parts and throwing the stock stuff back in im only out 2500 on it. I really liked my 99, but the suspension was really lacking and the motor felt impossible to jet, and the slighest changes in temp or humidity would require me to rejet it. It would have cost me a decent amount of money to get the suspension redone. I also had a tank, subframe, and seat off an 2003 yz 250 but I just never got the itch to throw it on. The $3000 i spent on my 2009 was the best $3000 i ever spent. I really liked my 99, it was a comfortable bike for me, but the first time I sat I on my 09, I just felt so at home and so comfortable.

@@Jake-rp9cv thats epic!! Everyone has their own preferences!! I had a 99 and thought it was the fastest and most powerful 125 I've had!! I buy and sell so I have had plenty of yz125s haha

It would probably be cheaper to get a 2006+

Possibly but then you have the aluminum frame! Me and a lot of other people prefer steal frames so it’s sweet to build a steal frame to feel and ride like a newer bike!
