2000 RetroSkins Highlights: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Washington Redskins

Спорт

We go back to 2000, for a playoff grudge match between the Redskins and the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay escaped in the '99 divisional round with a 14-13 win over Washington, a game dominated by defense. And so it was again this time, with Redskins defense having the upper hand from beginning to end.... almost.
Those Redskins big-name off-season acquisitions smothered the Bucs offense entirely, until a fluke play in the final minutes spurred a dramatic comeback for Tampa Bay, which forced overtime and yet more drama.
This was the game in which the Redskins looked like they were going to live up to all the offseason hype, going toe-to-toe with a playoff foe in a game filled with postseason energy. The 80,000+ crowd roared and the band bounced as Pat Summerall and John Madden made their first-ever appearance at FedEx Field.
Remastered from a VHS master, this is a sparkling gem (though it takes a few minutes for the action to pick-up - stick with me here).

One of the greatest of all time. 2 big turnovers, in his 18th year, the man was 40!!!! It never gets old when Pat Summerall & John Madden when they talk about him during the game(s)...seems like they always did our games.

Why couldn't they rebrand as the RedHogs; something that not only sounds close to Redskins but also pays homage to the Hogs. Then replace the face of the Redskins logo with the old retro R symbol inside the circle with the feather hanging down. Then keep the uniforms the same. Just remove the Redskins name on the chest and replace with RedHogs. Simple.

Red Hogs was everyone’s choice. So of course, they went with something else. Word was they chose something military to appear respectable. Let’s hope the regime makes a change soon

Big game, 17-17 OT and you kick to Deion, no angle nothing, he wasn't the 21 from Dallas or Atlanta but still that's disrespectful to say o we'll take our chances

Very possible. Johnson racked up 18 wins in under two seasons of starts for the Skins. Impressive by Snyder-era standards. Snyder’s ego wrecked a would-be winner for sure.

Been a while since i thought about the 2000 season, i believe this was the last year before the Salary Crap kicked in and the Redskins had a $100,000,000 payroll and looked as if they had bought a Super Bowl that year, sitting at 6-2 but the football Gods and Snyder had other ideas. So between the Johnson and George controversy thanks to idiot Snyder and woeful kicking game and the firing of Turner they were done. Thou i feel had Snyder left Turner alone at least until the season was over they might have made the playoffs. Oh well, would've could've should've. Thanks for posting Brother

Agreed. Easy TD angling right inside the 10. He ran left into the cutoff path of the defender who showed some serious speed in running him down.

@@RetroSkins Exactly, and that is only one of a litany of moronic signings he impetuously foisted on despondent fans. The Redskins became the team where former superstars came to die, i.e., give a half hearted effort while making a few million more before retiring. They were all coasting.
