TW in 2000 was the greatest season in PGA history. Byron Nelson won 18 times against a depleted field due to WWII. Hogan's 1953 was remarkable since he won 3 majors, 5 x total after his car accident. But no doubt this was the greatest season ever and Hal freakin' Sutton took him down head-to-head. Unreal

Arguably Hal may have been at his peak here starting with the tour championship win in 1998. His return to Floyd Jorgen & recommitment to the Jimmy Ballard swing made him so accurate. He also didn't wilt under the tiger intimidation factor as other players did & said it best " he's a man, just like me". Met him at Glen Abbey in 1999, the year he won there. Very cordial & engaging. Love that swing!

What’s funny is there was a horse in the Kentucky Derby this same year in 2000 called Hal’s Hope. Didn’t win the Derby, but Hal did win the Players later on in May. 😃

After this tournament- HAL Sutton was a forgotten memory never to return back to the spotlight. Tigers wrath still prevailed. Its kind what happens to a lot of the players that go head to head against Tuiger. They just disappear afterwards lol.

True but it was also natural, this was the last triumph of Sutton’s career revival in 1998-2000. After winning the Players and PGA in 1983 he didn’t do much for the next 15 years until this run

Gotta luv Hal Sutton. He'd heard it all week long, came under the closest of scrutiny and then went out there and beat the greatest of all time in 18 holes of tournament stroke play. Not many can say they did that and thousands tried. (Phenomenal eagle by Tiger on 16. He had to make it... and he did. See the putt!? It broke straight left off the collar of the green.. unreal.)

A 41 year old Hal sutton beat the field, including Tiger, at a time when Tiger was Good. Today is the second day of 2018 masters and tiger is 41, can he win? In his forties? Or is he all washed up and just a spectacle. I would love Tiger to win the 2018 Masters. Well now is the time for him to show the world what greatness really is. Win Tiger, win.

Guys can I get your views on this theory I have? I think Tiger played his chip on 17 short on purpose to be outside Hal Sutton's ball to ensure he could make par first and maybe force a miss by Sutton due to the pressure. Thoughts?

"What do we expect from this guy, huh?" 1:01:24. Announcers, while citing golfing of TIGER WOODS, arguably don’t use his name, TIGER". They use pronouns or refer to him as "This or That GUY. You don't hear this of announcers in England. Brits proudly say his name, TIGER WOODS. It's structural bias. Gold can't forget that TIGER WOODS is a Black man, showing up all their loveable White and Non-Black players. The other sub-racial approach is to refer to him in other-worldly terms, like the film industry does to Black Actors, (Magical). "That can't be." TIGER brought Non-White audiences to the game, increased purses ($). They tried to defeat him with re-design of courses. This is structural bias, if not structural RACISM.
