Need an early 2000s Mercedes’ sedan in my life

There were at least 4 different engine options for the W220 in the US. The 3.2 6 cylinder (I think it was a V6), the 4.3 V8, the 5.0 V8, and a V12. In Europe diesel engines were available. Design of the W220 started in 1992 at the beginning of the W140 production run. And while you're correct about the beginning of the W220 production, they didn't get to the US until 2000, so this is a first year W220.

I daily drive a 03 s500 sport and I love it. I changed all four air shocks with cheap Amazon units and have had 20k miles of luxury wafting. Yes it's not as well built as a 126 but it is a fine car. Great video buddy!

I think this would crush the Lincoln town car due to the transmission and the town cars lazy v8 however the town car would last much much longer with a way Smaller headache

European models have the same style cup holders as US models. They're not made to fit a thermos, they're made so you don't need to say : "Hold my beer" to the passengers 😂. And yes, I can confirm the air suspension after 20 years of age, is a love and hate relationship. Great car, great video, keep up the good work 👍

@@matsujarvinen Already been replaced, all 4 corners. I'd never convert to regular shocks, I love the air suspension too much.

Nice. But the quality went down a lot from the W140 to the W220. As for all of the technology it can cost a fortune when something goes bad. Would I buy one? Hmm maybe rather not.

This is clearly Chrysler era Mercedes. Quality was slightly better with the W221 (post Chrysler era).

I prefer the W220 over the W140, just looks way better to me. Probably because it's the S-class I grew up with. The W140 looks like a dinosaurs now.

The quality of W220 is superb.If well maintenanced,it´s extremely reliable and even cheap to own.It is a DIY-car,but it might get expensive to those who take it to the dealer.

W220 has way better quality than the w140 oldness

I agree it aged well for a car from its time period, I always found these rather handsome inside and out, I think they actually look better than the following generation even though that one looks much more modern.

You just made me love this generation of s class. This exanplyis dope with the rims

@@APNTV603 Rohana RFX11 but not sure on the size. Most likely 19" or 20" and they appear to be staggered width since the rears look a little wider and have more concave style. I'd gues 19x8 and 19x9 or maybe 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 due to the size of the tire sidewall not being super thin.

It’s funny the 2000s Pacifica seems to have borrowed from Mercedes with the gauge cluster design.

They had a merger in the 2000's, so a number of Chrysler and Mercedes cars shared parts to varying degrees.

I was having a bunch of small issues and starting to have signs of air suspension issues and I wish I kept it I miss my 2000 s500 every day

That was when engine were made. Now is plastics.

Lies. I daily my 2001 S430 Sport 62 miles roundtrip and she has 259k miles. In a couple months, it won't be my only car anymore, but these cars are not awful if you drive them daily.
