This is a lovely car. I've enjoyed many years throwing the golf clubs in the trunk and heading to the golf course with this fine car.

This car was a gasp moment when appeared. Light years ahead of anything else on the road, like the R129 SL 10 years before it.

It is… you just have to know what you’re doing. Pretty simple system. Pump lines accumulators struts…

For something Mercedes called ABC, you'd expect it to be simple and reliable.

If Mercedes - in it‘s infinite wisdom - would have made the ABC Service from the beginning a part of the regular maintainence schedule... Remember: Lifetime fluids in automatic transmissions were a brilliant idea of this era, too 🤣🤣🤣

The longest brake distance I’ve seen on Motorweek was the 1998 Dodge Ram Quad Cab at 150 or so feet. The scariest brake test I’ve seen was from a 1997 Chevy S-10 pickup whose brakes failed and caused the truck to take out the cones.

Interesting to note that you hardly see these vehicles on the road as they became money pits from beginning to end. The story of most german vehicles.

@@nikobellic7586 wrong. New Mercedes coupes has ABC.... all of them had it for the past 20 years. ABC can't be replicated with shocks and springs, that's the whole point of the system. You can have a soft suspention with close to sports car handling in a two tons vehicle.

Sounds fantastic but now after 20 years these things are now full of rust; many have faults too many to list due to poor maintenance, stupidly expensive parts (if available). Mercedes quality was atrocious . Goodbye CL500.
