I love when people actually use rare cars the way they were intended to be used. Yes, always a risk of crashing it but it just hurts me seeing a track built car just sitting collecting dust.

I know I've seen this video before!!! Dude in the cobra R can drive man. Nice and smooth with the wheel and just absolutely flawless rev matched downshifts!!!! Hats off to ya Crazy cheesehead. Car sounds phenomenal and I'd kill to be a passenger in that beast!!! Well done sir.

Lovely sounds it makes. I think its one of the best sounding cars. The guy was driving real smooth but of course the CGT just has more grunt. Non the less, awesome driving and fantastic car.

The 2000 Cobra R in my opinion is the most rare car to find now in these days you are a lucky man,that cars value will only keep increasing through time.

Cobra R's, a lot of bang for the buck, one sold in 2019 OEM, $60,000.00 @ Branson Auctions, low miles, no mods......

I was looking at buying a 2000 Cobra R before I found the love of my life, a la 512TR, but when I test drove one I didn't realize how spartan they are. The cockpit is completely stripped, and the diffusers are so low to the ground that it would be an impractical road car. I love Ford's, but nothing can replace a Ferrari. I wouldn't even trade my TR for a Ford GT, which is worth a good 30K more than my car. In the end though, only an American can truly appreciate American muscle.

Amazing driver, it takes skill, lots of throttle/ brake feathering to pull corners that fast!

I'm not intoxicated now, so I can explain it better. If you are in 5th gear at 3,000 rpms and you downshift it to 4th, you rpms will go up to around 4,500 rpms. Its because the gearing ratio is smaller (or larger i forget sometimes) from 5th gear to 4th. Now if you are racing, take those rpms up to 6,000 (the cobra r redlines at 6,500 i think) When he downshifts in the video, he's doing it rather fast. The sudden increase in rpm is the "rev" you hear. Hope this helps.

Also true. The power and looks for the money, the shelby is an amazing car. I don't believe a car should be bought because of its speed, but rather for looks. I'd rather walk outside and be able to say "that car is freakin beautiful" than to look at it and say "that thing is fast". Lol

You rev to downshift in order to rev-match. For example, say you're cruising along in 5th gear at 2.5k revs. Then when you downshift to 4th, your engine suddenly revs at 4k when it connects with the trans. People rev when downshifting so that the engine revs up to about what it would be before putting it into the lower gear so it matches the revs. Heel-toe is doing this when braking so you can get out of the corner. This is just my understanding of it I'm sure others can elaborate on this

Have you ever run at Limerock? I had a guy who drove me a few laps around Limerock in an R that sounded just like this, and I can't remember his name, but it was so much fun. That car handled so awesome.

I'd imagine nasty cams, some head work, different higher flow intake, side exit exhaust (basically open downpipe). Not saying they can rev out near as far, or push a stang near as fast, but the InTech they put in Navigators with the right exhaust (open downpipe) and a set of decent cams can make them sound damn close to as good as the Cobra R in the video.

01Durango5.9R/T ...cobra R is a side exhaust car to begin with...I doubt there is much done to this car at all ..the stock heads on this 5.4 are incredible...I always thought they should have put this engine in the cobras with the Eaton blower...I have a 04 svt and love it

I guess I may be a bit biased, I love mustangs, last one was a '99 35th Limited GT. I sold it after a major accident(T-T nailed me from behind in slow lane surprisingly) Just couldn't look at it anymore, even fixed, it fealt..violated...heh, I dunno. So I have a VR6 and a 2.0TSaab, saving, waiting to grab a Terminator, no rush tho. Anyways, don't get me wrong, those GT's(the porsche) are sick, real sick, and it would be a dope race, the Ford GT/Porsche GT. Ford has power edge, Prche has weight

mad props, but that carrera got you in the straights! but i think in a smaller tighter tract that miata would kick some ass!. i guess its how and where you plan to demolish some other racer, Choose your battles wisely.

Why $460,000? I saw one in South Florida back in 2000 that had a sticker price of 70000ish of i remember correct. Have they really went up in value that much?

probably, some older cars like i THINK 70' Oldsmobile 4-4-2 said they were at 350hp but really were rated at like 375hp or something that way they were affordable for insurance and still really fast, we used to have one
