200 hrs of Yacht Transformation In 20min
This is the last 200 hours of frantic boat work we did just before splashing our boat back into the water. It's the most boat work we've ever done in 1 episode. Thanks to @ParlayRevival for teaching us how to do all these repairs! We did things we never imagined we could, from installing thru-hulls to fiberglassing a rudder to building a jump-off-the-boat descender which i'm way too proud of.
Thank you @TotalBoat for the awesome epoxy and primer and bottom paint! Get some here with 5% off bit.ly/40xsPaF

"Shipwright's disease" is a term sometimes used in the marine world. It describes a situation where a sailor owns a boat with a burned out light in the galley. The sailor decides to change the bulb, but then notices that the socket is corroded and decides to change the socket. While trying to change the socket, the sailor notices that the wiring is frayed. This ultimately ends in a major undertaking and up to rebuilding the entire boat. This ties directly into the Ship of Theseus concept.

You know at one time during the worst of the grind, I was contemplating flying down there and just showing up to help Colin, because for a bit he looked like he was really struggling. There's just something about seeing a job, a challenge that looks extremely tough, but has an amazing outcome when done that makes you want to embrace the suck and go through unbelievable effort and pain just to go from "what if", to reality. It doesn't surprise me that these two boat owners helped each other, just sharing the dream.

Some darn good rules to fix boats by David, but also remember the Govotos axiom of buying boat parts (named after Dan Govatos): When something breaks, buy 3. One to fix the broke one, one for the one about to break on the other side, and one to have as a spare and give away when you sell with the boat.....

Outstanding video David!!! Knocked it out of the park.
I build boats on a daily basis, and I have laughed a lot of what you have made. But when you're a beginner, or don't have much sense of what you're doing, it's not so bad. 😂
you are such an entertaining storyteller, never loosing good humor

Awe yeah, always a good day when a new David Shih video pops up. Cool to see more of the story of getting your boat back to top shape. Incredible amount of work, that you somehow make look like a fun adventure. Cheers from Puerto Rico!

@@david_shih getting fixed. We lost the fore stay 120 miles north of PR and then the mast came down about 50 miles from shore. But new mast got stepped yesterday. Well be sailing again shortly hopefully.
My Gosh! Youre an inspiration. Strong work
Same work different fresh approach to delivering videos. Keep up the great work!!
