20 Years of Wilderness | A Jabulani Letter
This new 20th birthday letter of celebration looks at the wilderness through the eyes of our Media Manager, Tamlin. Join her on a journey of calm in nature...
The wilderness is my place of calm. Where I connect with the world. I can feel it in my hands and under my feet, on my tongue and in my ears. The more time I spend here, alongside big male lions and up close with elephant matriarchs, the more aware of their power and might I become. The more I understand life. I know I am small compared to them, and not nearly as connected to my animal instincts. My heart cannot stand up to the courage of a lion or the protectiveness of an elephant herd. But still, something in the air, in the wind through the leaves, the waves of impala, with their slender legs darting across my view, and the giraffe necks towering above trees, they centre me, ground me. We are so alive in the bush. Our conversations tap into the rawness of our environment, run deep like the gulleys made by the rain. How can we not ache to share our hearts when we find ourselves metres from animal as big as Setombe and as little as Phabeni. We are alert, like the leopard staring up at us with wide searching eyes. A long way from home, I am totally content walking across these dirt paths. Kilometres of nature stretch in every direction, and the people venturing with me share the single-minded focus, as we search the scene for flicking ears, darting feet, blinking eyes. That space inside me, call it a soul, call it a heart, it is full in the wilderness. Whole. I’m awake before the sun, ready to boot up, throw my camera strap over my head and head out. Wild hair, slitty sleepy eyes, two coffees down. The bush has been waiting for me outside my room and I am ready to meet it on its terms. Show me where to go, show me where the lions sleep and the woodpeckers peck, where the vultures sit up high, and the buffalo gather in massive herds in the water. Show me life at its most mighty and wonderful. Show me what I’m made of. And where the earth is most alive.

Paradise is where we are alowed to be us, where we connect with nature, plants and beasts and, last but not at all least: Paradise is where we do good because we feel the urge to do so deep in our hearts. It makes us better humans.

This is very beautiful Tamlin.❤❤❤With your words, I believe even more that the paradise we are searching for in this world is found where you are, and where beautiful creatures like our Jabulani herd and her fellow wildlife beings are allowed to live freely with their family and kin and in their natural habitat. And the presence of humans is to ensure the protection of these creatures and the natural way of life, and to admire its beauty. HAPPY 20TH YEAR, JABULANI! May you have more blessed years and may we all, and all future generations, continue to witness your beauty. God Bless You All.🙏🐘❤

Such heart filled words Tamlin. Here's to another 20 years 🍾💐. Your words reached my soul as I can relate to every word. The best experience I ever had was when I visited Jabulani 🐘 in 2021. I was the most alive I have ever been when I was there. To see nature at its finest. My heart and soul was so full of life there. To see the Jabulani HERD 🐘 up close, to see all of the wildlife in their natural home it was such a spiritual experience. Though I may never be able to visit the S African bush again it will live in my heart forever. Such a beautiful letter Tamlin. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings with all of us. It was such a beautiful letter. Thank you ❤🐘🐆🦏🐃🦒❤️

Hi, dear Dorothy! How lucky you are to have visited Jabulani Safari!!! I do believe it was an experience of a lifetime!❤️👍 Once I went on a safari in Kenya, we have visited Amboseli National Park and Tsavo West, and have been in a Maasai village, too. It was also for me the most defining travel experience in life so far. The natural environment experienced in Africa cannot be compared to anything else! Blessings to you! - Agnes from Hungary🌶😍🦁🐘🦒⚘️🍀🍍🌍🌞🔥🙋♀️🇭🇺

@@Dnvr8083 Dear Agnes, it definitely was a trip to remember. Did you go to David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust while in Kenya? I am sure you had a wonderful life time trip also. To be very honest I had no idea the passion I had for elephants 🐘 until I saw the rescue of Khaynisa 🐘. From that point forward I have never looked back. They are truly my passion now. I don't think I will ever be able to afford to go back but you never know. I made that trip totally out of my comfort zone and did it by myself. Everything you see in HERD 🐘 videos from the wildlife to all of the people is just like you see it. Adine is such a wonderful caring person. Tigere is so sweet. He took a short video of me feeding Sebakwe 🐘 and kissing him on his trunk. Somopane 🐘 is very cheeky. He blew mud all over me because I wasn't feeding him fast enough 🤣. Sweet Jabulani 🐘 by the time I got to him he was done and walked away. Adine came to Florida in the US which is where I live. I went to Miami just to see her. She is such a motivational speaker. All of the daytime and nighttime safaris we did were so amazing. If you ever get to go there you will not be disappointed. All of the guides were very knowledgeable and knew the best spots to go. Have a beautiful day ❤️🐘🦒🐃🦏🐆❤️

Your kindness means the world to us. Thanks for being so great!
Bravo!!!
Beautiful. You know, us people who live in big cities, New York, London, Chicago and me in Amsterdam think the world is for people. Always busy to another appointment, leaving the kids in daycare. Rushing, building careers, making money, trying to buy a big house one day. Hoping our kids will become lawyers and rich business men. It's so superficial. The growth of the world population scares me. People tell me: 'There's enough space on earth for more people.' We don't own the world. We share it with so many amazing animals who have just as much right to their environment as we do. We share the world, we don't own it. And we don't visit Africa to shoot any animals They all have the right to to be safe in their habitat. Now we have zoo's so gorilla's, elephants and a lot of other animals won't become extinct. Because of the greediness of people. We need more love, not more billionaires. ❤

Good day, we hope this will be of assistance. You will see the automatically generated closed captions in English. Then go into settings and click or tap on Auto-translate. Now you just need to pick the language that you would like for the subtitles and the tool automatically translates these captions into your chosen language. We trust that this was helpful.
Have you change something with the vidéo? Is it IA?
