Ever do a bow front frame? My plastic one broke. And its a 180 tank. Im trying to figure a way to replace the frame. Id hate to have to replace a perfectly good tank, that was just resealed less then 6 months ago. All because a plastic piece broke. Smh!

I have actually framed bow front tanks before. It's a pain but possible. My approach back then was to do it in small segments and use silicone to take up the gap caused by the curve. The hard part was to ensure the same gap with every segment so that the forces from the water pressure are spread evenly. Good luck with this and please let me know how it goes

Would rivets work instead of bolts?

Hello fishman, I was wanting to know what was the dimensions if this tank? And also, you said you used 1/2 in tempered glass for this project?

The tank is 76"L x 21.5"W x 24" H and is 3/8" tempered glass. You can used 1/2" and not temper if you wish. I just prefer tempered glass for safety

How did you drill the two holes in ....tempered glass ? Or ...the bottom sheet was not tempered.

I didn't drill the glass I ordered it from the factory this way. The equipment needed to drill polish and then temper glass is massively expensive.

Hope you're not going to turn the 175 into a salt/reef tank any time soon! Salt water and Aluminum do not mix very well!

Actually aluminum is the best material to use as reinforcing for salt water tanks. I have tanks I've done this for that are over 15 years old and there is no corrosion.
