(For those who want an overview) 1. So many tight hairstyles 2. Hands in your hair (playing with your hair) 3. Hair rubbing against clothing causing *friction* 4. Leaving hair out (especially during winter months) 5. Back-to-back protein treatments (you need to space out your treatments) 6. Using too much heat (blow drying, flat ironing) 7. Not sleeping in a bonnet or a silk pillow case 8. Continuously slicking down edges 9. Going to the wrong people to do your hair (some aren't delicate when doing hair) 10. Denman brushes / using wrong tools 11. Chemical overlapping. Not giving hair a break after coloring. 12. Choosing length over health. Not trimming the bad ends off 13. Being rough with hair when it's wet (be gentle since hair is weak when wet). 14. Towel drying hair (hair snaps. Use cotton t shirts) 15. Take down protective styles correctly (or build up) 16. Not protecting your ends (moisturize ends, especially protective styles) 17. Neglecting hair when it's dry ( make sure to moisturize) 18. Trying to detangle dry hair 19. Ignoring the fact that your edges are thinning out 20. Over manipulation (always changing hairstyle or trying to detangle )

ROFL! That's what I was thinkin lol! can't wear it down it rubs against the collar of your clothing. Can't wear it up you're causing stress to the nape and edges, no Denman brush or other hair tools. lol

I don't think people truly realize how sensitive the hairline and edges are. Constantly "slaying" your edges can be so detrimental. I stopped applying gel, combing, and brushing them and I massage my edges every 1-2 days. I'm going to take pictures once per month to track my growth.

I just put castor oil and a satin headband on my edges at night when I wake up it's all shiny and doesn't stick up (my edges lay naturally). It's good for everyday styling I only style my edges for parties and that.

I started losing my edges, because I always did buns with lots of gel and my hair was exposed to a lot of sun. Gotta remember to protect your hair from the blazin sun!! Especially if you from the Caribbean. 😳😳🌞🌞

I don't GET it, I thought, well... idk... surely our hair should have evolved to adapt to hot weather/the sun? Afro hair is on afro people. Afro people come from Africa ... Africa is typically a hot climate... why is it that out hair needs to be protected from the sun? ( clearly I'm ignorant as to why, if someone wants to say why in Laymens terms, I would appreciate it) 👊🏾

I'm so glad you mentioned you were an athlete! Would you mind doing a video on how to take care of your hair and the certain styles and protective styles that you do as an athlete!? Because I'm a college athlete and I like to weaves as protective styles because braids are too heavy! But I don't know how to take care of my hair while it's in a protective style and I'm sweating everyday. I don't think there's any videos on KZread help really active natural or relaxed girls out with what to do with our hair because it is different than not being athlete or as active. Thank you so much!!! I would and I'm sure many others would appreciate it. ❤️

Mannnnn... loved this! It really helped with knowing what to do with my daughter. I have 3c and my baby girl is like yours. I’m really working on her edges. My oldest daughter and I don’t have any issues with it. But I’m really working on my baby girl to help her and I’m seeing progress. Her hair is fine, high density and very porous... and beautiful. She’s 4 and I want her to embrace her natural beauty.

Sister! You're my hair sister. My hair hates Denman brushes too. I thought it was only me since I keep hearing people brag about them on the daily. I do still use them even though my hair hates them to remove those real stubborn knots. If I'm not careful any hair that's out even while my hair is in a protective style will start to dred up. I've learned to love it during bad times like that. My wide tooth comb will miss the real bad knots sometimes.

There's over manipulation and then nightly/detangling/moisture routine. 🤔 I feel like I need to detangle my hair and twist it back each night. I have dry scalp/eczema and my hair is manageable the next day. My hair is also very thick and maybe 4a/3c...idk. At most for wash and go's (which I rarely do) I'll wait a day or two then moisturize/seal and detangle. I just can't handle matted hair. 😅 So...I never really know when it comes to over manipulation. The Denman brush tip though...I might invest in a new detangle brush. I love my denman brush and I feel like its doing the job. Maybe I just to stop lol. I'm still new to being natural (I'm a year and 2 months). I'm glad I found your channel! ❤

Consistent shampooing and conditioning when braids are on with a diluted shampoo and conditioner in a spritz bottle. I undid and detangled my straw thin twist braids within two hours...length and thickness were retained. Try it ladies:-)

I wanna dye my hair I little bit lighter so I can see the growth and see the breakage. Nothing too light because I don't want to have to keep dying it just until I have worked out a good hair regimen. Is that a bad idea??

My mom would take me to get crochets or Senegalese twist from this african hair shop and MAN. Rat tail comb and no detangler... This wasn't a slap at African beauticians and hair shops I just remember that experience. I questioned it, but never spoke up and my mom would go run errands. Just a note: If your beautician don't have hair on the sides or it's unhealthy, you might get a glimpse of how you gonna turn out.

Great video, so basically... don’t touch your hair lol Also either you have an extremely amazing braid out process that works or your type type is not a 4?? 🤔
