I think to compare a $20 watch to an $800 watch is pretty stupid at the very least. Compare Apples to Apples! I have a Wyze Watch 47 and for the money I Love it. I personally wouldn't pay $800 for any smart watch.

For saying that you can't compare it to the Apple watch, you sure do spend the entire review doing exactly that. Your end comments just say, 'I'm biased to my $800 smartwatch, I couldn't even stand to wear it.' This is not good tech journalism.

I'm buying this as a gift for someone who just wanted a step counter. It's a good deal for the money. I have an Apple Watch 6, and I use most of the functions, but I actually use the phone / FaceTime audio feature most of all. Thanks for the review!

I disagree. I think it's absurd to pay $800 for a watch. You're paying so much more for minuscule features that don't justify the price point imo. Do you really need what the Apple watches do better at? imo no unless your life literally depends on it. In general, I think Apple products and services are horrible because they're basically a proprietary company and can jack up the prices however and whenever they please because they got the name recognition and brand that can fool anyone. Also, keep in mind that these Wyze watches are the first generations so although they don't match up with Apple Watches pound for pound, in time newer versions will come out and it will be better for a fraction of the price. Wyze is a reputable company as well and they're not one of those 'no name' brand companies that sell budget smart watches on Amazon and become discontinued in the later future. And they also have their own app instead of relying on a third party app. Anyone reading this and don't know much about Wyze, trust me they support and care about their products and they usually update their products. This isn't a knockoff brand.

For just a watch with a few perks, it’s great. The battery lasts for days. I don’t need to use readers to see the time and day. It’s cheaper than most regular sport watches out there. For the price it’s better than most watches. It doesn’t and shouldn’t be compared with a fancy Apple Watch, but it’s a great and affordable plain watch. That’s what I needed. You can see the time at night. Has a long battery life. My alerts pop up faster than my iPad . It’s great when my phone calls pop up I can see who is calling and I can hang up if I wish to. Great for kiddos and or seniors.

Not sure why people always feels the need to compare to a Apple watch. Like comparing an Escort to a BMW. Anybody buying a $20 watch expecting an $800 experience is silly. Would be nice to just see a review of a $20 watch. For a inexpensive fart around, gym, pool, beach, wear and forget watch, you get a lot for the small price. Plus I can give my other smart watches a break. Good review, btw.

I had an Apple watch (Ver 1 $200) it died after 2 years. The #1 feature I missed after it died was being able to see who the call or Text is coming from without pulling the phone out of my pocket. Problem solved for a very reasonable price. Bonus 9 day battery life, pulse ox, and lots of other stuff.

I just received mine yesterday, and I agree with your review. It's meant more for someone who would ruin or lose an expensive watch, someone 10-13 years old, cannot afford one, or refuses to pay that much for a watch. It's very basic, but what do you want for $20, I guess? I don't think I'll keep it, it's even more basic than I thought it would be. I can't even get the notifications to work, even thought they're turned on in the Wyze app, and it's paired via BT. The DND is not turned on and my phone is not on mute. It's going back in the box.

Jesus...why did you even bother reviewing the Wyze watch? All you did was bash it the entire time. That is not a review. This watch is meant to be a cheap smart watch that does many of the things other smart watches do at a super cheap price and they accomplished that all for around $25!!! Enjoy charging your Apple watch daily while a Wyze watch wearing gets 7-9 days between charges. I hate when "reviewers" go into a "review" with a very biased opinion before they even start the actual review and bash the product right and left. Next time don't even bother. And no I don't have a Wyze watch or an Apple watch. I did have a Fitbit Versa until it was stolen recently.

Haven't done a full review in a while, so I wanted to get the top comment to state my policy on reviews. 1. Reviews can not be sponsored by the company who makes the product being reviewed. 2. If a company provides me with a product for review, I'll let you know in the video. 3. First impressions and reviews are totally different things. "Impressions" or "overview" videos are more about neutral looks at a product, while reviews are more opinionated. And for full clarity, I bought this watch myself and Wyze had no say in the video's production.

It never stays connected and I can hardly ever configure anything from within the app because of this. Bluetooth says it's connected but the watch and app say otherwise. Raise to wake on the 44 is a joke, by the time I get the stubborn thing to wake for me I could have retrieved my phone and unlocked it. I keep having to remind myself it was $20. As someone who likes the idea of smartwatches but can't bring themselves to spend $300 on the SE or $900 on the series 6, do you have any mid-range watches that nail the basics? Same lacking un-useable "smart" features when it comes to notification system that I find in all other non Samsung or Wear OS watches. View only. You can only "Dismiss" then "Clear" the notification from the watch. Does NOT clear, or mark as read, etc, the notification from the phone. So you still have to pull out the phone to deal with them piling up or doing the repeat notification tone, since it thinks you ignored it. Pointless. They need to further develop this watch, then it would be excellent. Pixel 3 with Android 11 is what I am using it with.

[TL;DR ... well the TLDR of it is just that... it's too long, so don't read it, it's just a rant about the curvature of these types of watches anyways. You've been warned.] Why are most fitness tracks such that the not-the-band part of the watch not curved to the curvature of a wrist? That bothers me something fierce... how do cheapo's (not the one in the vid, but a lot of them) get this right, while most high-end name brand ones ( Fitbit, Apple watch, Samsung watch, etc.) get it wrong? This isn't hard people. Some of us have bony wrists, and a big flat surface hurts... just saying. (The knobby bit on the top of the wrist on the pinky side... I have a big knobby bit there, the flat ones get elevated on the pinky side by this bump, causing the other side [thumb side] to dip down ... below skin level, denting the skin and pressing into the tendons, ligaments, arteries, veins, and other to tube like things going through my wrist on that side wich hurts... due to the small circumference of my wrist I can't wear it on the sides of my wrist and I don't like it on the bottom of my wrist... but these are the only options on flat watch backs for me if I want it tight enough for the HR monitor to work... making it loose enough not to hurt works on regular watches but if I do it with a heart rate monitor it doesn't work right so one can say I'm just wearing it too tight but the spacing on watch band buckle holes always seems such that the difference between painfully tight and so loose it doesn't work is less than one notch... I'm not the only skinny person to complain about this either ... one's built for the Asian market and ones marketed at women are often no better at this... but oddy it's very common for the cheapo's to just curve the body of the actual watch part which fixes the problem perfectly. Before fitness trackers and smart watches ( when regular watches were king) I imagined the solution to be a band made of super strong materials so that the buckle holes could be very close together for a more granular fit phone not compromising the structural Integrity of the band too much due to the high strength of the material... curving the watch body is a much more elegant solution then what I had dreamed up... now it's a deal maker/breaker for me... can I wear it comfortably.

I always take mine off I didn’t even know it was waterproof. I did that when I was a kid and got a nasty rash from not washing my arm or letting it breathe lol

It's not just zero security in the Wyze Watch. All their system is really ineficcient. Two months ago my cellphone was stolen, so I tried to communicate with their team because I didn't see the option to log out from other devices. The answer I got was that they couldnd't do anything in that case and I had to create a new account to re-vinculate all my Wyze Cameras. So their user privacy system is b*llsh*t.

If you had never owned an Apple Watch (like myself) you would think it’s friken awesome for $20. In my opinion it’s silly to spend $800 for a watch that’s ugly and $20 is exactly the perfect price for an ugly watch. I’ll happily spend $800+ on a dress watch.

@@ABetterComputer I’ll say that the Apple Watch isn’t for me. It’s very utility for sure. But I wouldn’t call it a dress watch.

Wyze has a bad habit of doubling their prices around 6 months after product release‼️👎🏻

That explains why I'm seeing this watch for $40 and every review says it's $20. I thought it was a new version or something. Now I get it

a lot of companies do that with pre orders. gives people an incentive to pre-order instead of waiting for the release to buy it.

Great review! I have been thinking about getting one of these, but your review combined with the recent news about Wyze I think I will pass. Your arm is SUPER hairy btw. Maybe you can get a Manscaped sponsorship. 😂 I am a really hairy guy myself (not quite as much as you), and I NEED to shave it off. I cannot stand it!

Comparing it to a very expensive smart watch? Lame. Best thing about the Wyze watch? It is NOT a apple product. That alone makes it better. You won't wear it? Not good enough for you because it is inexpensive? A little snobbish? It's a freaking $30 watch that does what it says it does.

It's more of a long battery life step counter than a real Smartwatch. The 9 day battery life spec is really low - I've gone two weeks between charges and still had 40% charge remaining. But it routinely disconnects from my phone so alerts come in groups after it reconnects or I manually reconnect. Because it is often not connected, the weather app is only really accurate once a day if I manually reconnect. The watch faces are pretty lame and with no customization options like being able to add steps or calories to a face that doesn't have it. Raise to wake requires pretty exaggerated movements so it's easier to use the big side button. As a step counter it's okay and worth the $20. But they really shouldn't call it a "smart" watch. It's more of a village idiot watch - does one thing pretty well and sucks at most other things.

My new phone and smartwatch cost less than your $800 watch. You must really love fruit company to spend that much $$$. Second, fruit company is the one who ripped the Asus ZenWatch design or I should say inspired by Asus ZenWatch
