About Angus villager - there are more villager with "species inappropriate" names. There is pig named Rasher (like british therm for slice of bacon) and horse named Elmer (like in Elmer's glue - glue used to be made from horse bones and hooves) and chicken Benedict (like in dish eggs benedict).

Coco is based on Haniwa figures which are terracotta figures made to be buried with the dead. Gyroids are also based on them.

There actually was a "secret lawnmower" in a few games. That was actually wisp! If you put all his spirit peices back together you can ask him to pick your weeds

In New Leaf if you visit Otto and Tom a lot, Otto will eventually mention Tom's ex. Then they'll both tell you about her,. Apparently it was Sable, and they split up because she didn't like him giving her business advice.

The Hylian Loach was actually a thing in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It is also super hard and probably the reason a lot of people that never found the fish in Ocarina of Time (but knew it was in there) thought that was the name of it too

One thing that you didn't mention is how Gabi bears a striking resemblance to Roger Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Or how in the song Rockin' K.K., which is based off of the song Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry, part of the lyrics that gets repeated a lot is 'Oh na mi oh', which sounds like 'Go, Johnny, Go', which is a lyric in the song it was based off of.

Surfing kk's album cover reminds me more of the Dick Dale album cover "surfers' choice" the font even looks similar and Dick a Dale was known as the king of surf guitar. Also I think the villager using balloons in smash makes sense to me personally. There have been balloons carrying presents all back since the first game on the N64.

I've never thought coco was a coconut/had a coconut head, I always thought she was some sort of gyroid bunny hybrid

Kinda upset you brought up things as basic as Dom and Ace's name but didn't mention my boy Pierce being a reference to the TV show MASH of the main character Lt Hawkeye Pierce. Pierce's catchphrase is even Hawkeye. There's also a huge amount of other naming references enough to make a whole video on alone.

Hylian is still a way of saying "from Hyrule". So even if the fish is called a Hyrule Loach, saying "i wonder if it's Hylian" is still correct. Not mandela effect at all

coco is not a coconut though... just by searching her name on google it just straight up says she's a terracotta rabbit. shes like a gyroid, which are inspired by haniwa statues. though her name was probably localized as coco because most english players wouldnt get the reference. her name in japanese is yayoi, which would be a reference to the era when the haniwa statues were created. if you read just a bit more in the wiki below the part about the coconut and cocoa you would find this information, which honestly is way more interesting than the coconut and cocoa stuff

First time I played Animal Crossing, I got Jeremiah. I shared the village with my mom and sister. We all instantly got the reference and would hum that part talking to him. In fact I remember my mom passing me when I found him telling her to meet Jeremiah and without missing a beat she asked "Is he a bullfrog? Oh! He actually is!" This is what happens when singing songs with two words that match a conversation is normal in your family. 😂

The Jeremiah reference I thought was pretty obvious. I thought back when Evil Imp was doing horror movie trailers in Animal Crossing that would have been good. Doing a creepy low version of the song then when you get to "I never understand a single word he said" then the screen goes black with a loud slam and whisper, "but I helped him drink his wine." Then a series of fast panicked shots of characters running from an unseen danger as the sound is sing aggressively loud.

I really like to think that Rudy is based off of Jibanyan from Yo-kai Watch. Though the series isn't entirely well known bc they slowed down/stopped localizing the games and kinda dipped in popularity after Yo-kai Watch 3 came out I think. It's a really good game though and I'd recommend it to anyone really mostly for the funny moments in the story and quests. xD (mostly in Yo-kai Watch 2, as far as I know because I still haven't played the 3rd game.) (Spoilers Ig for Yo-kai watch-) Rudy was Jibanyan's name when he was still alive as a cat and also looks a lot like Rudy from Animal Crossing too.
