What a delightful, simple gonk . I have to pick up some economy priced spanners and make some tenon sizing tools . I prefer not to put any finish on the nose tenon so that my wood glue bonds well Cheers from Gary in Duluth Minnesota USA
Excellent idea for a scrap wood project. Many thanks for your inspiration.

Excellent stylized Gonk. Next up: Gonkette and family? Glad you got rain. Out of the drought status now I hope. We are still dry and wonderfully mild. Possible shower tomorrow. Think that puts you ahead on the rain total.

Hello Andy I really enjoyed this video it was very informative and interesting. The wood is nice even though it was a scrap bit of wood its got nice grain. The colouring you used was very nice I think it shows the grain as well, it really spiced up the normal timber. You really are a masterwoodturner and have a creative imagination, I love all your videos. The Gonk is magnificent really stands out, could be used for allsorts of things. You had no rain on the video whats the weather been like lately, up in Scotland we've had mixed weather. God bless to you take care from Amanda xxxxxx

Hi Amanda... Thank you so much for your kind words as always... This was a nice simple project but with a bit of colour added it worked out well... Yes... Pine wood can still look really good and is much underrated... Your weather sounds like it's been very similar to ours... its feeling very Autumnal now... September next week... where does it go... Thank you and God bless you and yours... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy xx
Hi Andy! What a lovley idea, love the modern "stylised" design, looking really good and could be used for a number of things... Planting carrots or potatoes, for example, or as a stand for bracelets and dare I say it, hair rubber thingies, you know... Ha ha ha, sorry, cannot help it, always looking for the dual use aspect... Anyway, love it, looks great! No sound today, sooooo no rain either??? We seem to go from tropical heat to typical Cornish weather (15 degrees and 99% of humidity...) and back to tropical heat in the matter of a couple of days here, so kind of crazy too... Have a lovely Sunday, take care, byeeee!!! Jude

Hi Jude... I'm really pleased that you liked it... Oh hang on... you're going to stick his head in the dirty soil to plant your carrots and potatoes with it... How dare you suggest such a thing... Haha... just kidding... I prefer the 2nd suggestion.. much more fitting for this chap... The weather has been very mixed recently... I hope that you are enjoying some sunshine now without too much humidity... Have a lovely day Jude and .. do you have bank holidays... it's our bank holiday on Monday... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy 👋😉👋

@@AndysCornishCreations Hi Andy, no Bank Holiday for us, I am afraid… We do not have bank holidays here, we have (mostly) religious holidays, the catholic ones since we live in a catholic canton, luckily… because this means we have a few more holidays than the cantons who underwent the reformation way back then, Calvin and Luther and all that… So they could be on any given weekday for the most part… We are back with cold and very wet weather, after quite a violent heatwave… I am glad but there is a lot of water coming down, quite dangerous in certain areas… Well, new reality it seems, at least no hailstorms so far, fingers crossed 🤞🏻 Enjoy your bank holiday, hopefully with a bit of ☀️ Take care, Andy 👋🏻😉👋🏻Byeee, Jude

Hi Andy! Always a treat to watch you work. I show these sorts of turnings to my wife Nancy and this one got a thumbs up from her as well! Our corner of the world (southern coast of British Columbia) could sure use a bit of your rain. We’ve been dry for ages now and have a lot of forest fires burning throughout the province. Anyway thanks again for another lovely project I’ll put in the book! Cheers, Rick

@@AndysCornishCreations Hi again! We are fine down here on the southern coast. My brother and his family are in the Cariboo Region about 5 hours from here and they have fires all around them but luckily non very close! I’m pretty sure I would need to live to 120 in order to complete everything in my “book”! 😀
Such a fine and noble gonk! I wonder if he might be standing guard outside a particularly jolly fellow's workshop? One can't dilly dally when it comes to getting ready for "you know what"! 🎄😊 This was a fun one to watch, thank you, Andy, take care!

Thanks Andy. I've been putting off finishing a piece on my lathe because I realised I've done the shaping and drilling in the wrong order. Having seen the shape of your gonk I think I can make two little characters out of this piece and do the original job properly with a fresh piece of wood.

Hi Kevin... The brand is " stunning stains"... But there is nothing "stunning " about them... I only bought 3 colours..red , yellow and blue.. The red and yellow are OK but the blue is hopeless... I would probably buy Chestnut or Hampshire sheen stain in future... Take care my friend and all the best from Andy
