Good to see you wearing your life vest out there by yourself. I don't know how many times my brother and I have done that same thing over the years. After trolling off Daytona for dolphin we would run in and mark fish from the bottom up to midway in the water column. They were almost always red snapper and sometimes triggerfish among other things. Good trip and one for the memories! Hope your electroncs had the capability to mark that snapper spot...

Hi Tom, Yeah, my thoughts are no one plans to fall overboard or swamp their vessel and the life vest in the locker doesn't do you much good, especially in a small boat. The self inflatable vests are great. I literally forget I have it on. Oh and yes sir, I have that spot saved in my bottom machine 😉. I will certainly visit it again the next time mother nature gives me the opportunity.

Looks like a fun trip.

Great video. I really enjoy videos of people getting out in boats that aren't out of the realm of possibility for me to afford in the near future. You should run over to the Bahamas in it. That would be a video!

@NorthFloridaSaltwaterFishing Awesome! I wasn't kidding. The conditions have to be right, but I think it's plenty doable. I'm in between boats. First boat blew outboard, not worth fixing, but I learned a lot and am regrouping. I hope to do it with the next boat, which will probably be a 16 or 17 footer as well. I'm not sure if the boat will be brand new, but the outboard will be.

Those are some nice red snapper for 20 miles out! Here in Tampa Bay I don''t think we get them like that so close

They have overtaken every nearshore bottom of any kind in our area. I fully expect them on our jetties one of these days.

You found a snapper convention. I thought the first one that straightened your hook was going to pull you overboard. Still a great day on the water. What size rod and reel do you like to use for fishing the jetties?

It was a great day. The ride out and back was as good as finding that ledge. I like to use a 3000 or 4000 series spinning combo at the jetties.

I have not been on a 192, but the trim tabs are 100% a must-have on my 162. If you are fishing out of it, I would also go with the fish finder. Congratulations on your new boat! Tight lines 🤙 🎣

Obviously, it depends on conditions. However, I routinely get 6 - 7 mpg in moderate conditions running 20 - 30 mph. On one trip I ran 20 miles out. I trolled for about an hour. Ran back in harder than I normally do and stopped at a few spots on the way in. I ran 40 mph for a good portion of the way and ended up with a little over 1/4 tank. I was pleased.

Also, I have a Suzuki 90hp mounted two holes from the top. I feel it needs to be raised but I have not pulled the trigger on that. The trim tabs are working great for me and I love the boat with them. However, without them, it porpoises like crazy and I would hate it.

I think it is that these boats are so heavy in the rear that at a given speed, air under the bow causes the porpoising. Trim tabs force the bow down, and the boats runs well. It probably robs a couple mph in performance due to drag, but I rarely run WOT, so I am good with the compromise. I can also adjust the attitude of the boat to compensate for an unbalanced load or to stay drier in a cross wind.
