20" K Zildjian Crash Ride compared with K Zildjian Ride and K Zildjian Jazz Ride

I recently bought a 20” K Zildjian Crash Ride. Let’s see how it sounds compared with a K Zildjian Ride and a Zildjian Jazz Ride.

The first Zildjian cymbal I bought was a 16” A Zildjian Crash Ride. I’m not sure why I bought a Crash Ride. (And in retrospect, how bizarre that they used to make a 16" cymbal that counted as "ride.") Maybe I thought it could function both as a crash and a ride, and I needed both but could only afford one. But actually, it wasn’t great at either crashing or riding. Later, when I bought a real 20” A Zildjian ride, I replaced the 16" cymbal with a medium crash.
Lately I’ve been gravitating toward washier cymbals, and I wanted something in between my K Zildjian Ride and my K Zildjian Pre-Aged Light Ride. I thought I found it with the K Zildjian Jazz Ride, but there’s a frequency that I hear when I crash the Jazz Ride that doesn’t work for me. (I'm selling that one.) So I thought I’d try the Crash Ride.
And I like it. Less defined than the K Ride, and a nicer crash. Slightly less defined than the Jazz Ride too, and I prefer the Crash Ride’s crash.

I have this and I love playing it for larger venues with my 18" K Dark Thin Crash. For smaller venues, I use my 20" K Custom Dark Ride and 18" K Custom Dark Crash which are wonderful for lower, softer volumes. I've tried other brands but I always came back to Zildjian. I've been playing them since 1965 and they've always had something for everyone.

Those are nice combinations!
The classic K ride 20" is the most legendary and beautiful sounding ride that goes in any genre of music, from light to heavy styles. Amazing balance between stick definition vs wash, and the bell is very clear and has a strong cut 🤟
its good to compare zildjian 20 K rides today have more wash than 10 years back ,i love my 20 so i got a 22 and wasnt happy ,to much wash ,so now i just ordered a 22 zildjian dark medium which i owned before and liked but i just know when i get it and put it next to my 22 regular K AND 21 SWEET RIDE its gonna be close .IF it is i ll send it back and just get a Sabian groove ride or something ,always on the hunt
Of the 3 I like the Jazz and the Ride. Try some 602s!!!
