I don't use bleach either cause it causes me breathing problems. Your videos have inspired me to just clean a small area at a time so I don't get overwhelmed. Today I got motivated to wipe my whole fridge out and clean off my stove. I struggle with depression and sometimes I lack energy to clean a lot. I praise myself for whatever I can get done each day.

@@annamaesawyer7482 I like it when my husband helps me deep clean inside the house and not just outside. Actually, when we deep clean, it's a family affair, we all do it. My kids have been doing it since they were little, except when they were toddlers, but they first started by me going with them through their toys and asking them to be honest and get rid of their toys if they no longer played with them and they were not really special to them. Yes, my kids had that one or two special toy, anyhow, if they were broken beyond repair, they would be thrown and if not, we would take them to an orphanage and honestly that helped a lot because they got to see how lucky they are to have what they have. As a matter of fact my daughter told me once, that she might have a few more dolls to give away to those little girls who didn't have anything. Anyhow, sorry for the long comment but yes, it's always nice to see men and women to do jobs that are only "considered" for the opposite gender.

I have the same fears you do. I think a lot of people do, through no fault of their own. Isn’t it great to find somebody who truly understands and actually helps? I have reached Appoint watching his videos, where I have realized, I really don’t need all the stuff I have, and I have started to let go of things, it actually feels very wonderful. Hey guys, What a great video! I just found you and subscribed. I'm 75 and temporarily handicapped and using a walker. You have given me some great cleaning tips so Thank You for that. You do amazing cleaning/organizing. After spending a year in hospital, I came home to 'the house of horrors'! My daughter took care of my 2 cats, kept the floors mopped and took out the garbage. But that's about all she had time for. Being on a pension, I couldn't budget for a housekeeper. Prior to my emergency (3 perforated ulcers) surgery March/22, I was healing from a broken leg in Feb/22 and a bad concussion in Jan/22. At only 78 lbs and using a walker and an IV pole, I looked like an x-ray. And I knew I'd have to clean my cluttered, dusty, some laundry and somewhat dirty apt all by myself. Not one soul to help me clean and put things in order. All of my beautiful plants were dead, and everything was misplaced. My vacuum attachments were been thrown out and my new WHITE furniture was black with thick cat hair and mud (2 cats). I was mortified! I didn't know where to begin! I just knew it would take at least 4 months for me to clean, reorganize the entire apt. as I was so slow and tired easily. I also have scoliosis and can't use a ladder because my scoliosis makes me unbalanced. However I worked away a bit at a time and things are starting to get cleaner and in order. Its been 3 months now and I still have a lot to do. I'm thankful to have survived and getting better! YOUR VIDEOS ARE AWESOME AND THEY ARE EXTREMELY HELPFUL TO ME!! This past year has been a nightmare! So I've subscribed as I know you and your videos will help me get things done. I cannot thank you enough! Cheers! ❤❤ 🇨🇦-Judy Butler

Hello Janice, I have a daughter by the same name. 😊 Thank you for your kind and thoughtful message. I live in Brantford Ontario. (Southwestern Ontario). Yes, I had Personal Support Workers when at home. They were to bathe me, sweep kitchen floor, wash dishes, make my bed and take out my garbage. They were a great help. But there was a years worth of dust on everything. Some of my furniture had to be moved around to make room for a hospital bed, IV pole and many boxes of medical dressings, cases of liquid food which went through a tube in my abdomen as I was not allowed any food by mouth for quite s long time. Dead plants everywhere. They would also fold and put away clean laundry. But it's taken months for me to find things: clothes mixed in with towels and sheets and everything stuffed all over the linen closet. Thick, sticky dust on my ceiling fans as well as the range hood over the stove. Utensils were scattered in various drawers. I still haven't found the accessory attachments for my 2 cordless vacs which had been stored in bags and hung up on my furnace room wall. They must have been accidently thrown out with the garbage. The bathroom was cluttered with shampoo and lotion bottles here and there. I weighed only 78 lbs, lost muscle mass so was too weak to do much more than one thing a day. But, now I'm eating like a horse with real food again. Gaining back weight and walking unassisted without my walker. I lost my driver's license too so I gave my brand new SUV to my daughter. She takes me out when I need to go anywhere. But I take my walker for safety. And now, I've gotten a lot done but still have quite a few things (like the fans) that I can't do. But things are getting better. I now can take my garbage out to the dumpster, I cook and bake (banana muffins today). And I have a little apt washer and dryer, so I do all my own laundry! I grew some petunias and cherry tomatoes from seed for my balcony! My granddaughter is coming down from Barrie this weekend to finish doing things here for me. She also is a PSW. And I'm a retired PSW. My daughter, Janice is my 'rock'. This has been VERY hard on her too! But, it's all good. We're making slow but steady progress. I'm lucky to have survived. So, everyday is a Miracle! Sorry for such a long message. I never get any visitors and sometimes I'm lonely. And I can talk your face off! 🤣 Take care and be well, Janice. You seem like a lovely person. Cheers! 💞💖 Judy

Lee willers I think once we take the time to take a good look at our lives realize what we are doing with our lives if we are please with what we are doing or just going from day to day taking it for granted, we can always make changes a wee bit at a time. The next thing we know we will see a big improvement, feel proud of what we have accomplished. We are given life to live it, enjoy, we are the only ones who can make changes if we are not enjoying our lives. We won't be enjoying life if we are not living it, that in it self can be depressing. It pays us to keep the environment around us clean clutter free. May I suggest when you are cleaning to down size while you are doing it, it makes it easier to get rid of what you don't need or. Want, makes your life easier. I always give my things to a charity called open arms, it helps with a variety of causes. I think sometimes when we shop to fill a void in our lives, it doesn't work, it is just a short time fix. I would rather. take the money go out for a meal with a friend, or a movie, spend some good quality time together. Watching these shows being able to see someone else clean is a real treat, joy for me. I went in other peoples home cleaned on a weekly basis. I would also do extra house. cleaning in the fall. Good luck on your cleaning, you are doing a great job with what you have done. I am proud of you !!!

My sister is hoarder as well and now her adult daughter is. I left home at 17 but also spent about 6 months of every year with my grandmother until she became ill when I was 13 and I had to live permanently with my mother and her boyfriend who she met when I was 10. My half siblings did not have the great family that I visited while living with my grandmother. There was excess alcohol use in the home and then poverty when the boyfriend left . My mother had children 11, 10 and 8 and had to move to low income housing. My sister worked in restaurants and was used to making lg quantities of food which she continued to do at her own home. She bought excessive clothing for the daughter and fed her excessively. Her kitchen cupboards, closets, counters were packed with stuff. I would visit in the summer and clean. I thought that it was out of control as she was usually working two jobs. Then, I realized that they were more annoyed with me helping so I just visited. Now her husband has died and she struggles as they wasted so much money on any kitchen gadget that you could imagine and excessive buying. Now she is doing the same thing to my mother's apartment buying excessive food and incontinence products and charging my mother. My brother lives with my mother and will not put his foot down with the sister. The sister and I no longer talk as she and her daughter conived to claim my mother falsely as a dependent on income tax. My mother is 89 and was always challenging. Unfortunately, hoarding is linked to mental health and any suggestions to my sister in the past were dismissed. She has created another generation of this as she did not seek any counseling. If you identify yourself from this excellent video seek some professional guidance to better your life. Having clutter like this actually adds to your stress level. I am a nurse and fortunately I had a hospital employer that had free counseling as a benefit and it helped me a lot to deal with my childhood trauma. I do not live in the same city as my Mom and sister and have advised my brother but only he can decide how to deal with his mentally unhealthy sister.

Tell your son when loading the dishwasher always hand wash the big pots and pans that way he willl have more room for all the little dishes and less hand washing. Hugs and Blessings!

They had TOO many old food storage containers, new ones unused, expired food, items mixed in with "unlike" items. I was able to reduce it all to just what they "need"( 10 bags to the dump and 3 totes to the Goodwill) and organize things much better. My mother is legally blind and my father has low vision in one eye and very disorganized, so the clutter had really built up and so had the dust and dirt. we ALL feel so much better now that this is done. I hope you go back and show more of this house. I cleaned out my silverware drawer yesterday, and it was pretty bad . I gotta do this to my kitchen. You inspire me.
