Austria derives its name from the German word "ost", meaning east, while Australia comes from the Latin "auster", meaning south. So despite sounding very similar, the names of these countries are derived from two different cardinal directions.

Monaco is listed on some info sites as having no capital city. Most of the government buildings are within the "quarter" of Monte Carlo, one of the five quarters within the nation. The term Monaco means the whole nation, but is also called a city-state. So what its capital city is can be debated.

Too much fuss is made about this sort of thing. Most languages have consonant and vowel sounds that don't exist in English, for example, the "oo" sound in the French article "une" is nothing like "oo" in English. This means that the English ways of saying foreign words are only ever likely to be approximations of the original anyway. It works both ways and other countries will also have their own ways of pronouncing foreign names, and this can even differ between countries speaking the same language (British English: Van Goff, American English: Van Go, neither of which are much like the Dutch). As someone who lives near Shroozbree/Shrozebree, I can confirm that some places don't even have one standard pronuncation in their own country.
