What's funny is I recognized the actress who played Lily from a Legend of Zelda fan film that was done a few years before the first V/H/S film. She dialed up the creep factor amazingly in the Amateur Night short. Though I haven't watched Siren yet....

The first VHS was amazing. So good that the short film got its own movie. All the others just got worse as it went. The narrator made them sound WAY better than they were.

I don't think he died though. His hidden camera glasses fell off when she flew off with him, but there was no evidence that she killed him. I may be mistaken, it's been a while since I watched the first V/H/S, but Amature Night's ending is nebulous.

Hell and Back is the best segment in the whole series, great for a found footage movie and crosses dimensions, the practical effects are on point and horror needs to go back to practical effects

I loved vhs viral, the whole vibe is just awesome, the best stand out story was definitely the parallel universe one, definitely creepy an shocking, i think a whole movie like that could work, My other favorite story is from the newest vhs- To hell and back, was amazing, definitely the stand out in that one, the same directors other movie- dread stream, is a really awesome evil dead/grave encounters like movie, God i hope that gets a sequel, the 2 directors are super talented, they just need a bigger budget for thier next flick. When it comes to vhs- looks like next up is a 80s style one- vhs-85 and lord am i excited for it.

The vhs movies have so many segments that would be incredible standalone movies

Siren/Succubus received a stand-alone film. I would love to see a Dante the Great, Safe Haven, and Parallel Monsters get solo films. Safe Haven was so awesome.

V/H/S is my favorite horror series! I didn’t know how much I loved found footage till I watched the first one. The Blair Wotch Project could never!

Movie rankings: 6th-Viral- 1.5/5 i honestly wanna give it a .5 but ehh. 5th-99- 2.5/5 4th-94 3.5/5 (honestly tied with 85) 3rd-85 3.5/5 (honestly tied with 94) 2nd- VHS 2 4/5 1st- VHS 1 4.5/5 Though 2 has 2 of the most memorable segments i feel that 1 is the most all around definition of Anthology.

From worst to best Viral 85*Tied with 99 99*Tied with 85 94 2 1 ***85 got re ranked as lower because I want to like it but I feel like it just isn't better than 94, 2, and 1. 85 just clouded my judgement because it was new and It's not as good as I originally thought.

Love this series, Safe Haven and Too Hell and Back and Parallel Monsters are my favorites.

Timo Tjahjanto (Safe Haven) also made an excellent horror film called "May the Devil Take You", and has some Evil Dead inspirations. There is a sequel but I havent seen it, yet. He also directed "The Night Comes for Us" which is an excellent crime/action flick. In case anyone would like to seek out any more of his work.

Gareth Evans (Safe Haven) directed "The Raid: Redemption", "The Raid 2" action films which are excellent. His "Apostle" film was pretty good as well.

The worst monsters were those ghastly skater kids in the Mexican cult segment.

The first two films in the series are excellent! Really well done! "Viral" sucked with the exception of the story "Parallel Monsters". I haven't watched any of them after that. I'm not sure I would be too excited to, given the staggering disappointment that was "Viral". Edit: Okay, I do remember watching V/H/S 94. Completely forgettable.

99's special effects really didnt help the film. I know its supposed to be 99-2000 but that doesnt mean the monsters had to look like it on camera.

You missed the point of the Ozzy one. Based on context clues, the girl's family put her on the game show knowing full well that she might get seriously injured in the process. When she got injured, they blamed her for losing and took it out on her and possibly her leg. You can tell this because of how cruel and vindictive they were towards the gameshow host. They weren't interested in having Ozzy fix her injuries, they were only interested in having Ozzy grant her wish from when she was a kid, which means that the wish was meant for the family. So her wish to destroy her family and the smile you see at the end, was her finally getting her freedom from her abusers.

I felt so bad for lily. She reminds me of myself when I used to go out

V/h/s viral my personal fovorite.

Fitting that the name of the succubus is Lily which is a reference to Lilith, the mother of demons including succubi. Glitch has advanced camouflage who has a different frequency than people do which is why it can appear to be invisible. The Grey aliens are really demonic entities, hence the pitch black eyes, using human like bodies as a portable shell. I guess it's chaotic nature is what causes it's camouflage to be full of static. It's disturbing that these entities do exist in real life and are more dangerous than shown in the film.
