20" BMX Wheel Shootout |

I got my new wheels built for the 2023 season and I am so stoked to reveal the build. ‪@PowersBMX‬ knocked them out quick and they look amazing. I took an opportunity to compare three wheelsets since I had everything apart. I pull in some stock ‪@SundayBMXVideos‬ wheels, some Alienation BMX wheels and my fresh VEGA Racing BMX wheels. Which ones are the lightest?

Great video. It was nice to take a tour of Powers. I have spent a comfortable annual salary there in the past four years and never saw it like you showed it. I appreciate it. I also appreciate your taste in hubs and wheels. We share the love, Aloha.

Hey, thanks for the encouragement. I hope to get back to the museum and get Chad to talk about some of the amazing bikes in there.

Those Alienation wheels are nice but man, that Vega set up looks sweet, especially with those ti spokes! How have they held up during the 2023 season?

They are amazing. I have them on both bikes and have put them through the test this year. I've taken a few spills (nothing major) on them and they have not missed a beat. Still straight and true, no cracks or issues and I even took my cruiser out on some medium grade mountain bike trails near my house for a 13 mile ride. This video is my bike check from just before 2023 started and it covers all three of my bikes. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZqB-zryxZ5CpoLg.html

So the carbon is heavier? Those alienation rims are very light. I have a set of T-Bone carbon wheels, no braking surface, and they weighed in at 311gr and 315 gr. Just checked online and the alienation aluminum front wheel is listed at 290gr. That’s light!

The Alienation TCS rims (I believe) are the lightest on the market right now. They are amazing and yes, the carbon Vega hoops (the same as E6 Silencers) are just a touch heavier. When it comes down to it a few grams isn’t gonna make or break a racer. Both wheel sets are really nice.

I have heard clear pads are a cheaper option without the wear.

Interesting. If you happen to know a brand it would great to share. I’ll need some new Pads on my cruiser in a few months.

@@TheDriveTrain Eclat clear pads. Mike Fede said they stop the hardest.

These wheels do not accept disc brakes. Profile does make a version for disc brake, but I just run V-brakes. Obviously, the front hub would remain the same.

That is odd to have 48 spoke for a racing wheel.
