In Canada, we prefer older rookies because of the life experience they bring.

@@felix121984Canadians are actually worst especially when there are more laws against the police in US than Canada especially when it comes to filming them

I'm from Houston and live really close to Allen Parkway where this all happened. This is one strong woman. Congratulations for setting a goal and achieving it, especially as a 53-year-old rookie! What an amazing accomplishment. Thanks to all the HPD officers that make our city a safer place to live and work.

Good for her, she raised her children and now living up to her dream. She may be 50 but I don’t know any 50 year old woman who would have the balls or the strength to make it, probably would have definitely gave up after breaking a leg. Officer Wisdom lol small joke!

It shouldn't be a upper age limit for police officers. Firefighter yes, military hell yes but police officer no.

I understand; however, if one can pass the PT and keep up with the training regimen that is all that should matter. I know guys in my Reserve unit in their 40's and 50's outdoing the ones in their 20's during PT.

Age doesn’t matter as long as you have the will power and determination to get some! I mean there is a 52 year old in the Army’s 75th Ranger regiment one of the toughest and most elite in the whole world. World class war fighters.

NYC and Chicago both have the age cutoff at 40, and they can't recruit anyone good.

Need to open it up to whomever can do the job irregardless of age. If anything, the older ones bring more maturity and life experiences with them.

She did anything wrong. A rookie gym officer broke her leg. And she was a HPD officer years ago already but she retired to take care of her children when they were born.

There are now auto fill reports on the MBT they use in their cars. Not hand written any more.

Asking someone’s age is not inherently rude. “How old are you?” That isn’t rude. Being offended is a choice, ma’am.
