I thought about getting a Carbon CC, but there is someone who has a Carbon and got a Topping EHA5 and couldn't hear any difference.

Nice. Carbon CC and BHSE are good amps... you may not realize yet but these are in the upper mid level of Kevin gilmore's arsenal. Next tier is KGGG (BHSE and Carbon hybrid) Then the Megatron ( tubes!!!!) The finally... DIY T2 at $15,000 😀

Do you run a stock tube with the BHSE? A match quad of NOS British Mullard XF2 can be a game changer for the BHSE. Great review as always!

I ended up getting a regular Blue Hawaii not the BHSE, but it has some different upgrades. The SE only has 6.67% more power then the regular Blue Hawaii. I don't feel like I am missing much. I also only had to pay $1,600 not $7,500 so there is that

How did you buy Blue Hawai which costs 6k on retail for 1.5k??

Love your reviews, but a few things.... Energizer is originally the name of the transformers between amp and earspeaker. Ifi ESL Stax Srd7 and those. The Blue Hawaii is an electrostatic amp like all Stax amps nowadays, and BTW Kevin Gilmore isnt only the KG in the KGSS(hv cc), but also gave us the Blue Hawaii (as his first rendition of a working copy of the T2).

Hope you get your hands on a DCA Corina to compare at some point. It was my favorite estat at CanJam Chicago on the LTA z10e but especially the Blue Hawaii SE. Too bad not before you let the Blue Hawaii go.

Congrats on your new place. I would love your words on Warwick Acoustics Bravura someday. Also the Aperio, though it is out of my financial reach.

Well done director.. studio is looking good and the room is sounding good. If you ever get a chance there is a diy energizer called Megatron that is supposed to hang with these two

These are amplifiers, not energizers. I reject the terminology, and it makes me sad. There is nothing electrostatic about the amplifiers, only the headphones. The headphones may require a lot of current and power compared to other designs, but that doesn't make an amplifier not an amplifier just because it's more powerful and perhaps supposedly designed for electrostatics. There are plenty of good powerful headphone amp options (for a lot less money I might add) suitable for use with electrostatics.

Hey Artcore! As someone who has done a number of videos on the topic, you are the first to push me to the amplifier terminology. Most of the time I get grilled for NOT calling them energizers. Damned if I do, damned if I don't, I guess. There are other e-stat amp options, for sure. I think it's interesting to listen to the best of what's available, and these are certainly two of the best amps or energizers (depending on whose team you play for) out there right now. There are great headphones (electrostatic or otherwise) available for less money, and I review as many as I can get in house. But it is fun to hear summit-fi gear, and as the producer of this show, I think it makes interesting content. Sorry if I disappointed you! Thanks for watching.

@@DirectorsGarage oh I agree, I'd love to hear very expensive stuff too just for the heck of it even if it's not actually superior except in the minds of rich audiophiles. This is precisely why some insist on having a special term for their amplifiers. I get it, it's very niche. I thought it was a British thing or something until I read your response. The makes me sad comment was meant to be tongue in cheek. Keep on with it sir.

No other amps deliver as much power as the Carbon CC, so its logical it would sound different then the cheaper amps. 2,000 volts RMS vs 300 rms on the cheaper Stax amps.@@Artcore103
