Thanks for posting. I recently found your channel. I'm older and my partner is older but we are planning to live simply and to get out of the city away from people. We are working out the work/life balance and how our income will be effected. It's different when you're older. Lovely to see your journey. Sounds like you're doing great so far. Keep going! Having lived way out in Colorado myself I can tell you that water is a HUGE factor. I don't think people realize that water rights in Colorado are a very big thing and before buying land make sure you can get a well permit. If there is a process I would seek this as hauling water is going to be very tiresome and sometimes impossible. Great what you two have done with the place...good luck and have a great life!

I LOVE what you did with the property and how you met and the entire store you told! I actually found this by searching YT for "5 acres" lol, because that's what I just bought. What's interesting is I'm also going to have solar but I'm not going to be off-grid. While the house is being built, I'm going to build solar racking and install 16 kW of solar panels but it will be grid-tie. I'll have the builders install a heat pump in the house so I won't need propane for heating. I plan to release a series of videos as progress is made.... until I have my dream home 😊 Thanks for sharing!

Colorado was one of first places to look for some land to build a homestead but most of the land is in Southern Colorado in which the county has a permit for every little thing. Not to mention the cost of living in Colorado. I am glad you guys are doing well. Ryan is very handy!

You are living the perfect life. This would be my dream life. However it's neigh on impossible here in the UK as land is insanely expensive and getting planning permission for and off grid home would be a miracle. I wish I lived somewhere else that's affordable

I think a combination of a food forest and eaden gardening would be great for your climate

2:44 if you are on solar and off grid why on earth do you have a gas-powered cooktop for? why not make it all electric like an induction cooktop. You don't put your house waste is a garden compost give it to the chooks to eat.
