2 year old diagnosed with melanoma

At three years old, Lainey Turnbull is already a cancer survivor. She was barely two years old when she was diagnosed with melanoma, which came as a surprise to her mom, a dermatologist.

It must be one of the hardest struggles in life to see your very young daughter go through the invasive procedures both while getting diagnosed + treated. I am so glad that she is OK. I wish her a beautiful healthy + happy life!

My son had childhood melanoma. It is rare in children. The doctor kept telling me that it was just a mole and it indeed had been on his hairline since birth but something just wasn’t right. I had to insist that they biopsy it and they kept saying I was over reactive but finally did it and apologized. It had not gotten to his lymph nodes yet and we have been cancer free for 10 years now. At 22 we still go to the dermatologist every 6 months and I beg him to not forget his sunscreen. Usually each trip some mole is removed but we keep up the battle.

*someone, anyone, please help me if you know what this may be:* my son is two and he's had a lump on his leg slightly darker than his skin tone and it turns a little swollen and red while bathing in warm water, there's also redness around the bump while bathing as well (resembles a bite or sting). My husband and I were told not to worry since it wasn't "bothering him" but recently he's been able to express himself better and he will point to it and say " my boo boo hurts mommy/daddy" and I'm now worried. We called a specialist and their next available appointment is in three months and I've been going crazy worrying about it. Research has led me nowhere.

That’s not melanomas melanomas black pigment in the skin that spreads not just one mole that could’ve just been a pimple pimples usually never go away depending on what it is if it was a mole it would actually be Brown not the color of the skin if it’s red that’s actually not a mole Learned from real dermatologist
