As a former RC when I started to read the Bible (actually it was a children's bible stories, reading it to my children) any time I asked a priest for clarification on certain Scripture ie why we never heard Jonah & whale preached at church, and Scripture like that, time and time again a perfectly innocent request turned the priest into a fuming rage, one priest in particular whole demeanor changed, eyes where crazed, face purple with rage, refused to answer. Then when I heard the scripture first explained as how it should be I realised that the priest had never read it. This was confirmed to me by an ex ceminarian who left the priesthood after 5 years, he said he never saw a bible at the priesthood college in 5 years, that they just learned Greek mythology, and theology. See if your a follower of God you should be a reader of his Bible, how many of us would when buying house insurance would accept the company to read me the contract only and deny me a hard copy of their obligations of contract. Surly it's madness to leave your walk with God entirely in another person's hands.

If you don't read the Bible than how can you know the person who is reading the Bible is telling the truth? God's truth? I also encourage you pray before you read, I pray Ephesians 1:17 (NIV) 17) I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you (me) the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you (I) may know him better. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

Is this the last letter Paul wrote before he died? I know he wrote books past this but I'm wondering time lines. Thank you

This is so contextually and textually erroneous in reference to 2 Timothy 3:16. 1) In 1 Thessalonians 2:13, the ‘word of God’ being referred to is not Paul’s letter at all. Instead, verses 2, 4,8,9 show the context and it is the “Good News of God”. Luke 4:18-19 (as quoted in Isaiah 61:1-2) says, “The Spirit of the LORD is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim GOOD NEWS to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed, and to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor.” This passage reveals what this GOOD NEWS is about when Jesus stood up and states that “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your ears” (verse 21). Thus the ‘word of God’ referred in 1 Thessalonians 2:13 is NEVER about Paul’s letters even though his letters are read in synagogue (ie. Colossians 4:16). Instead the ‘word of God’ in verse 13 was the “GOOD NEWS of GOD”-Jesus setting the captives free, healing the blind, setting free the oppressed and proclaiming the year of the LORD’s favor. 2) Peter also refers to Paul’s letters as ‘LETTERS’ in 2 Peter 3:16. 3) 2 Timothy 3:16 refers in context to the Old Testament alone just as verse 15 is when Paul was referencing the “sacred writings known since CHILDHOOD”. Verse 8 lays the arguement which says that “Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these people oppose the TRUTH”. Psalm 119:142 says “Your Law is TRUTH”. Psalm 119:151 says “All Your commanments are TRUTH”. Psalm 119:160 says “TRUTH is the essence of Your Word”. Thus the reference to “All Scripture is inspired by God...” can only mean the Old Testament as there was no New Testament in existence at the time of its writing nor were Paul’s letters considered as Scripture. Furthermore, Jesus declared of Himself as the Way, the TRUTH and life and He obligated every believer to obey Moses Laws as He Himself came to not to abolish the Laws and Prophets. “Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples, saying, “The Torah/Law scholars and Pharisees sit on the seat of Moses. So whatever they tell you, do and observe. But don’t do what they do; for what they say, they do not do.” (Matthew 23:1-3) 4) But the real problem is since the Old Testament is the “All Scripture” and “Sacred Writing known since childhood” and Jesus Himself commands that the believers must obey Moses laws, why aren’t the christians obeying them? Why aren’t the christian leaders teach obedience to Moses’ Laws? The answer is right back in 2 Timothy 3:7 “always learning yet never able to come to the knowledge of TRUTH”. “...Avoid these people”verse 5 commanded.

I am only a Christian 8 years, but this is the way I see it, The Law of Moses was a covenant of God to Israel only, I think over 600 laws maybe, so if you broke one law you where guilty of breaking the whole law. 😢 Read Galations 2:18-21 and Galations 3:1-3, we now follow the laws of Jesus Christ, which Jesus died for, for us a new covenant, the Moses Law, which was a law of condemnation and death, the New covenant however is a law of life, eternal life, the first law of Moses is a power that condemns, the Law of Jesus Christ (the new covenant) brings the power to please God. If we don't accept the New Covenant of Jesus Christ, then we are effectively saying, "Jesus dying on the cross was not enough", which is such a harsh thing to say, I guess you like me would not agree with that statement. One thing I have learned about Scripture is, if it doesn't sit well with you because it puts God in a bad light or uncaring, then I have the wrong interpretation of the scripture, keep researching the scripture and you jest know when you have arrived at the correct interpretation as it will Glorfy God's action and words. One tip I have learned is to ask God for biblical interpretation and discernment of his word, before reading the Word. God bless, discussion is good, and better than distain of the Word of God. I am in the later years of life and basically a bible babe, only heard the truth of the Bible 8 years ago. Anyway that's what I think
