I forget where I heard this, most likely it's from a now passed away owner of a tree service that did business in the town i live in. But anyway, I'll attribute it to him for the time being. But I've heard that when grinding stumps, you don't want to take a "bite" that is more than half the height of the tool because it could stall the cutter head out or possibly put too high a load and cause a tooth mount to shear. Although I think the latter is more a warning to be mindful of rocks and or tramp steel bits that somehow manage to find their ways into the stump areas of older trees.
That’s a beast of a stump 7:03 LOL. One of our neighbors did that. Owned it about a month then traded it in for a utility cab tractor with a stump grinder and some other implements.
That little green buggy is stout!

It is very stout.
Smaller bites and a smooth swing speed that won’t slow the wheel.. actually quicker
I would have guessed 500 for that stump. I occasionally get stumps ground for my tree work and it’s not cheap but reasonable and I would guess around here that stump would go 600ish
Nice job guys, keep up the good work.
Where is your Go Go Gadget Umbrella when you need it??
It's very hot in the south this time of the year. At work we set up a 10'x10' tent whenever we can to stay out of the direct sun. Something like that may work when you're on a big stump and stationary for a good while.
Must have been a hot day, can almost feel the heat from those two grinders and the sun😨 I have a smaller grinder that needs to be moved around manuel that´s really hard work
This fella has some nice stuff. Making the job alot easier. Still hard work but the rite tools for the job.

For sure
Great video guys... Your videos are amazing and so informative to me...I'm amazed at some of the equipment that's on your channel.. Almost 100 foot bucket working with crain trucks with grapple saw combinations. You tube in general is a great platform for viewing machines and products working in the field. Without the bias or learning towards one or the other. Have a great weekend Tim.

Great video thanks Tim and rook tuff job but it had to done
Backhoe is my new stump remover
Get Her DONE !!!
Great video Tim. Do you plan on in the future? Will you build up your equipment inventory something like what Rook has? Man you could really do a lot more tree work then. I know you stay busy now. Not too mention repeat customers. That says a lot about your business. I’m sure that equipment comes with a big price tag. But it would sure make things easier for you. Thanks.
Nice stumpers, I’m with top notch tree services just north of yaw, we have a stump grinder we love it, wished we had a push blade like rooks has, wouldn’t have to get the skid steer to push back the chips..
Picnic umbrella 👍
Why didn’t you cut the stump lower to the ground! There would be a lot less material to grind?

Harder on his chains as might be dealing with dirt and shit plus the tree roots ripped out of the ground if you seen last video
Great work fellas I'm a big fan of y'all's work nice machines but a Vermeer 70 stump grinder spanks that Carlton and its ten grand less unless you wont the remote it's extra but who wonts to spend that type of money on a machine that the engine is out in the wide open with all the debris stump grinding puts off I don't get that about bandit or carlton

I’d definitely get a pop up sun shelter for that kind of work.

BTW... I've seen a few videos on the new kubota kx085-5 mini excavator. They are expected to come to the States sometime next year. They also had reviews on the kubota kx60-5 .. The 60-5 is staying in the UK ..
Tim, do you usually haul the stump debris away or do you leave it and backfill the area? Great video!
@cotontop3

I backfill, pack and grade it out.
What did you think about the GT cutter wheel compared to your NR?
@cotontop3

Thanks! Will do!
Both units seem really twitchy and jerky when travelling , is there no "dead-slow" on the drive motors?
@cotontop3

That’s electric over hydraulic with non proportional functions.
Nice 😊 🤠👌👌👍
Tim would a small walk behind grinder like a DR be good for someone starting. Out in the business

I’d find a decent size machine that was used to get started with.

It’s better than it was but still not great on availability.
Yeah that belt won’t last you long I promise
With all that tree dust in the air around you, why don't you wear a mask?
