    Great job you guys !! Yes there's a paycheck involved BUT.!! I think there's more love involved in watching the people crawl out of the rear chair White as a ghost , a smile from ear to ear and they walk around in a circle saying over and over. Holy shit. OMG. HOLY SHIT OMG. And then Larry comes up and puts his arm around you and says what did think about that? And the guy starts walking in circles again saying holy shit. OMG.. 😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣😂 That's worth more than any money.. You all know that person will never experience anything more thrilling in their lives. In 3 and a half seconds than what just happened.. Its the thrill of a lifetime. . But i think the love of doing this each day is so far beyond the money. You guys really rock for putting together a program that is capable of giving us that sit in the stands, and stand up each time you pull to the line, so we can feel our chest cave in from the pressures when you leave it, A real chance to climb in a 3 second balls to the walls full blown nitro car and take that experience home with us.. That is so huge for promoting the sport and sharing something with us that is such a motivating passion for you guys.. I really have a great respect for you guys for doing this.. Your giving back a little of what we've all given to you with our love and support of drag racing. That's awesome I wish you and your entire team the best that life can offer. Best of luck also!

Wondering since the fuel is "slower" rate of burn and the huge dwell involved if any advantage at all to stagger them slightly. Thanks for any insight or information.

  • @robwendland

    @robwendland

    Well thank you for the kind words. It is 660 foot. We just have to run the car smart and conservative. It still takes a tremendous amount of power to move 2800 pounds so you still have to make a lot of power. When you are somewhat conservative parts last longer. That’s probably the only saving grace about the operation.

  • @turbo2ltr

    @turbo2ltr

    3 жыл бұрын

    Once tires lose grip, they stay that way so if you break the loose right off the bat with an aggressive clutch engagement it's easy to keep them spinning. That's also what the water box is for. They drive through a patch of water just before the starting line to get the tires wet which make it easy to get them spinning. On the launch, I know it doesn't look like it, but it's a controlled clutch engagement over quite a a good portion of the run. (not sure how long though, you've reached the end of my knowledge) That clutch engagement timing is key to the whole run.. Too aggressive than you break the tires loose. Not aggressive enough and you don't use all available traction causing a lower ET. It's all about riding that fine line between sticking the tires and lighting them up. Then you take into account that you want some tire slip and that fine line gets even narrower.

    Nitro. They squirt fuel in the hat because it's mechanical injection and it helps it roar to life.

    We use regular gasoline to start with. This is a very low compression engine so it starts easier on it.

    NHRA was not pleased on some stuff, some stuff happened and some lawyers are involved was the last thing I heard. Would be my guess. I have not heard much on it lately.

    Larry Dixon is barred from running any NHRA events since the chassis is not NHRA approved and violates rules for running with passengers. As such they probably had a stern warning from NHRA legal telling them they want no association with the car hence the disclaimer being posted on the side. More probably for incase anyone not affiliated with the team likely does not know that its not approved for NHRA sanctioned events and is not something they approve of.

    @@willpestka2745 I get the NHRA does not like the passenger thing, but if he's on his own then it's essentially like you or me building our own and running it as just some independent person. The NHRA doesn't have authority over all things fast with wheels, so there must be more to the story. I personally think this is the coolest thing ever and really glad he's doing it!

    My understanding is they modified an old chassis to make this car. There was an out of date NHRA inspection sticker left on the car. One of the NHRA tech inspectors saw it and was not happy. That led to Larry Dixon being suspended indefinitely from the NHRA. The "not affiliated" sticker is probably there to avoid any more consequences. Obviously Rob and Larry could do a better job of explaining the real truth than I did and hopefully they will. I'm just a keyboard warrior.

    Its a long story. Here is the baseline. NHRA was involved the entire way when this car was being built. Murf McKinney design and modified the chassis. He also did the FEA work on it and it was actually safer than the current top fuel cars. NHRA kept in touch via email the entire time of the build. Last minute, Traxxas wanted the car at SEMA and so it was taking there. The old chassis cert was on the car which was expired and meant nothing. NHRA seen it and said he was representing something that they didn't approve. At that time they banded him for NHRA events, driving and even crewing on a team. It was appealed and Larry was fully reinstated in NHRA. But, he can not run his two seat car on any NHRA track which is bullshit. There is a law suit pending and I will say in my opinion, it doesn't look good for NHRA......
