Please explain physical significance of 2's complement. One should understand how it leads to subtraction. For example, we need to subtract 32 from 75. So it is 75-35. Now rewrite -32 as 100-32 -100, So it is basically -100 + 68. In 2's complement equivalent in decimal is 168 where MSB 1 represents a -ve number ( -100). Now to subtract 32 from 75, we can simply add 75 and 168. Which is equal to -100 + 68 + 75 = -100 + 145 , both MSB 1's you cancel in case of binary and we get 45 as answer. To generate 2's complement equivalent in decimal. Instead of doing -100 +100-32, we can do like -100 + 99-32 +1. Where 99-32 is 1's complement equivalent in decimal. by adding 1 to 1's complement you get 2's complement. Tough to understand but this is the way to understand how 2's complement works.
