He's wrong about Spaghetti Bolognese being cultural appropriation, though - it's as Italian as Nigel Farage.
12:27 I had to look up what the row was about. Mercer worked 20 hrs a week for 365 GBP/HR for Crucial Academy; they got funded (partially) by a company representing LCF who had a failed bond scheme that lost people 265M GBP. In the clip Mercer denies this, but this was later shown to be correct. Mercer resigned as a non-executive director, then appointed executive director at the same salary. He then became minister, announced he would resign the position, which he didn't until it was reported in the media. He is currently minister under Rishi Sunak (2024).

Generally if Hislop is pushing the point, he's seen the evidence, and knows precisely what's happened.

Not being a brit (I'm from NZ), I thought Ian was being a bit harsh, but you're absolutely right @rikparkinson2501 - he only pushes when he knows facts (and I should have known that!). Qudos Ian - and not that he'll ever hear, or care, but sorry I doubted you!
Kirsty Young speaking Russian - I need a cold shower.

and again, because someone at youtube has a cucumber up their arse and they're clearly enjoying it: ALWAYS GO FULL BRIAN BLESSED, YA BASTARD!
52:43 paul merton is so good at sitting next to someone & reacting to the ridiculous things they're saying
we got a little bit of the episode after the 2015 election where lots of MPs lost their seats and party leaders resigned. for me that was one of the best episodes. I would love to watch the full program again.
1:20:53 repeats the previous clip 1:33:40 too

Tgat's because they've literally downloaded video clips posted on the Hat Trick channel and thrown them together - the fucked up along the way.
I sat in the gloom and a voice said "cheer up things could be worse'. So I did and they were.
Thats the queen at 39:46 😂
1:53:17 my video cut to a commercial right here which was perfectly in sync with Jo using the hammer. Gave me a good laugh
Around 50 minutes in, didja see Paul's jacket ? Didja ?
Is this show still on air???? Haven't seen any recent episodes

57:05 that episode is still my standout….
Got a bit clammy around !:17 mins...
Is it a dolphin in a bathtub?
Steve defied his expectations 20 years ago and went on to star, let alone host, a political satire show
Paul Daniel’s lived on a houseboat. What did he expect?

"In cohorts with", Ian? Cahoots!
how the fuk can youtube bleep out swear words when bbc include them?
28:06 If only!
I’ll do anything for a woman great line 😂
1:12:13 - what does the commentator say that's so funny? I've played it ten times but I just can't make it out: "so far the only miner to make it out of the tube jkl;dlsjfgsliuntbvliret"

@@michaelwells4802Thanks; it rarely happens to me, but once in a while something in English will just trip me up; my Dutch brain then goes 'does not compute', no matter how often I try. This didn't sound like an extreme dialect, like how Johnny Vegas will often confound me, but 'something' made it unintelligeble for me. Thanks for the feedback; it was driving me nuts 🙂

@@berendharmsen native English speaker but American and from the South and every once in a while something a Brit says makes my brain short circuit lol interestingly it only seems to happen with them and not with others who learn English and speak with their native accent (like I never have any issues understanding Henning Wehn or Daliso Chopanda when they're on the panel shows) - I suppose it's because they don't typically speak as fast or use as much UK slang. I love linguistics and how our brains process words lol and love connecting with ppl across the ocean thanks to these brilliant comedians who help us stay sane! 💙

@@berendharmsen I kind of get the confusion, I'm Northern so I would say Beard as "Beerd", but this reporter talks like a Southern ponce and so says "Bee-yard". English dialects can throw even Brits off.
Shame there are repeats throughout it.
Nigel Farage fake laughing - he really has no sense of humour.
he looks older vibe
I love I got news but why does Britain consider cat murder a funny topic? See this frequently among uk comedians

I cringe every time I see Saddistiq Khan
Brian is the worst host of this show ever. Like a five year old with far too much sugar and ai voice changer
Giles Brandreth is a complete and utter bore. Any show he`s on, he waffles on and on, trying to take the show over and sucking all the life out of it. Sorry, but I had to turn it off.

He's very entertaining when he's not on a fast-paced panel show. For example QI grinds to an awkward halt when he's on. I could listen to his ridiculous stories in a conversational format. But you can't put him on a show like this imo. Yeah, he gets a few good one-liners in. But not enough to make it work for a whole episode.
This show is crap, the “I’m so smart” humour is pish…. Try so hard to be witty and clever and it’s just the bbc wasting more of our money to make a show for posh ppl… on any other channel it would’ve been scrapped at the pilot episode….
