Got me thinking of the Simon and Garfunkel song “The sound of Silence”. Inspired me to go play it on you tube just now . It’s almost like a lullaby . Soothing to listen to.

Comfortable silence is a wonderful thing.

Every time I hear a KZread or Zoom speaker reference his or her book the image comes to mind of the speaker lifting the book to the camera and saying "Which you can get for $17.95..." So, when the two of you started joking that this video was sponsored by a canned spaghetti company I just had to laugh. That said, "Awake: It's your turn" is by far the best book of direct pointing/practical practice that I've every read. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to skip the jargon and poke their I out.

This touched the heart and tickled the funny bone. 🤣 You guys are awesome and I appreciate the synergy that arises between you. Thank you for this. So much gratitude to you both. 🙏🏻

I like the shot with you guys sitting on a porch, facing the same way, staring into the distance while you listen to eachother. Something about that porch setting makes this much more wholesome & relatable. As comforting as that is, I just got done watching "Serial Experiments Lain" so I kept having to take breaks from this convo. My head is still spinning thinking of hiw some of you guys' words are repeated in this anime from the 90s... I would love to hear someone with a neuroscience background or even a computer science background chime in on the kinds of talks you have with Angelo, because I keep getting the feeling like this subject matter is surrounded by some interesting science. I would love to see Angelo have this same kind of chat with a neuroscientist, just to shed light maybe on some the physical mechanisms going on.

Funny experience while watching this: Sitting outside on this porch or wherever you are, you could have been two guys from “Moonshiners” or “Deliverance!” And here you are talking about silence and awakening. I love it. This is the porch conversation I’ve always wanted. Thanks so much for sharing it with us. The only things missing were shotguns, banjos, and for Angelo to have a meaner dog! Love you guys. I do miss silent communication. It's just trickier without seeing. It still can happen here and there with long time friends. I need to refresh some of my signing skills. I was thinking of ways sometimes how friends on the city bus would come up with subtle close contact signs that were just enough, combined with what I was hearing of course. To let me not miss certain non verbal communication that they just saw. This was different than signing directly into my hands. It was something far more subtle. It was what they would not have wanted to miss.

Damn. Had The exact same thoughts during zen retreat. :D Can we say that mind is one, it only appears as different through different conditioning?

I started daily hyperbaric oxygen therapy on Aug. 5th at UAB. Unless the tech picks up the phone to talk to me, I get a good 90 plus minutes of not communicating with anyone. I leave the chamber feeling energetic and refreshed.

Dang, glad I listened to the very end. LOL. So miss Papa Murphy’s Pizza. Don’t have that here on the East Coast.

Recently invisibly began meditating unguided. Magically and yet seamlessly. Just drop in and out of the slipstream multiple times daily. Mornings outside before dark looking at the stars, in lieu of sitting. Ritual of the daily 4am consistently present and less structured. Interesting to notice this happening, while it’s happening.

Same! I used to listen to classical while studying or working. Now that doesn’t even work to gather my thoughts. Just pure silence, hear the birds chirp maybe, rain would be nice. This is so accurate & I wonder why that is. Is it because as we grow older, our brain is slower to process with too much stimuli? 🤣

I find it is very difficult to talk about direct experience because it is always in the present moment and thinking spoils ir. I have found that presence has grown stronger and more miraculous each and every week and the more i completely let go the more miraculous it gets.

I'm lucky enough not to have experienced much loss or pain, in the grand scheme, but I wonder whether these mediation retreats could be helpful for those who have lost close loved ones?

Yes Angelo, at 81 I feel like there is a veil between me and life out there. I am working to get beyond it or through it because I realize it has not always been this way. What caused it? I know I did. I think it is what Michael Singer says is the self-defense mechanism of personality and the mind. I went to 5 day retreats in the past. Somewhere I got lost in the phenomena. I had a Japanese teacher who always said: "dont get lost in the phenomona" Yes, but I did over and over again. Hoping to wake up soon.
