I have done these in shape of squares, with batting of cotton inside for insulation against hot beverages.thanks. good tutorial.

After hearing you talk about donating items to the senior center, I thought about the nursing home where my mom livers. They play bingo and have other activities where thy win small prizes. I gathered a bunch of small items I've made and took them into the Director of Entertainment. They were thrilled to get them to use as prizes. Thanks for the idea.
