This commercial aired on January 4th, 1988. It aired during a broadcast of "Nick Rocks" on Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon is a basic cable channel that ran at night on the Nickelodeon channel. At the time it ran kid-oriented show.

Great footage of Debbie Gibson with two of her videos and also interesting seeing the original version of George Harrison’s “I Got My Mind Set on You.” A bit creative with the porcelain doll coming to life. Coincidentally Deb hosted the first Kids Choice Awards in 1988 and decades later was one of the judges on “America Most Musical Family” reality show that aired on the channel.
2/8/88 was a Monday. I had turned 12 the day before. I was into roller skating on friday 7-11 pm & they played Debbie Gibson at the skating rink a lot.. I grew up in the deep south so Debbie's Long Island accent sounded weird to me.

It's so weird looking at Debbie from a different point of view. She's a year older than me. She seemed so mature back then. Now I'm about to turn 52, and this old footage makes her look like a kid. 😅 I still love me some Debbie! I've been a loyal Debhead since 1987, before the term "Debhead" was a thing.
