1st Time Watching 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU! | Movie Reaction | Heath Ledger | Julia Stiles | JGL
Ойын-сауық
Jaby is notoriously NOT A ROM-COM PERSON. Achara shares some of her favorite rom-com movies with Jaby in an attempt to maybe change his mind. This is the first movie reaction in this series.
10 Things I Hate About You was a popular film in the 90s and definitely has a lot of that 90s nostalgia going for it. The movie stars Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, David Krumholtz and Andrew Keegan

I'll add that if the guy is so afraid that the moment or opportunity is gone then he should try and create another moment/opportunity again when she is sober.

Julia’s crying during her poem was improvised. So was Heath playing with the fire in their class. And I believe Julia was Heath’s first kiss ever.
@cobbsta88

I doubt it was his first kiss on film, from what I understand Heath was discovered by American producers from his perfomance in the Australian movie Two Hands where he co starred with Rose Byrne (her debut in cinema)
When Kat said "you're the only one", she meant that he was the only one telling her to do whatever she wanted.
Big disagree with the "never turn down a makeout session". He knows Kat and knows that this is absolutely not who she is normally and she is incredibly drunk. He did the right thing 100% by saying no and if she wants to when she's sober, go for it. Consent is very important in that situation.
When Ledger was 1st announced to play the joker, I thought of this movie and assumed his joker was going to suck. It's crazy how wrong I was. Dude had amazing range as an actor.

As a fan of Heath's television roles here in Australia, it was really cool seeing him get his big break in this film, it's such a fun movie as well as the nostalgia when hearing the music. Great choice 👍

I really like this theme. We could all work to try to find a romantic comedy that Jaby actually likes! 1. Crazy, Stupid, Love 2. Bring It On 3. He’s Just Not That Into You 4. Father of the Bride There are so many to choose from. Another fun theme could be to try to find a romantic drama that will make Jaby cry.

All of y’all are a bunch of babies. In this situation Jaby is saying she was not drunk to the point that this makes it wrong, hence the reason she was so upset with him not kissing her. She would have been grateful he did not accept the kiss if she was not in control of her actions, that’s not what happened here. Y’all are making it seem like Jaby was condoning taking advantage of someone.

It was only around the 1980s that Notting Hill began its transformation from impoverished ghetto to the incredibly wealthy area it is now. A small house that could be bought for £10,000 in 1980 would now be worth several million now.
TEAM ACHARA for this series! Internet High Five! 240 pound guy here, been obsessed with martial arts my whole life...even fought five wolves when I was 17...and I have always enjoyed a good romcom. Psst! Jaby! You say you were interested in getting girls yourself at that time...and yet...you look down on romance movies? Really? You were on the wrong road... You keep doing enough things separate from the girl...and separate is what you will be. Overlap, my friend. Overlap.
It's really an amazing romcom teen movie❤️. I fell in love with Julia Stiles and that last poem of 10 things she hate was so emotional n touching ☺️. But the main highlight of the movie was heath dance scene on 'can't take my eyes off of you' it's still fresh in my mind 🤩.
If someone needs to be drunk / partially drunk to kiss u then i don't think they actually wanna kiss u lol ! If she actually likes u she's gonna do it regardless
22:27 I actually did get to try archery in High School. A lot of kids dropped gym when it became an elective and it became one of the most awesome experiences after they did. We did windsurfing, rock climbing, shot pool and played darts. And there weren't any people there who didn't want to try.

oooh. i love this being a segment. lets call it Achara's Corner. In totally here for this. Achara, when are we doing How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and The Proposal??? 😆 Also...Crazy Stupid Love.
In 1990 the Pet Shop Boys released their cover of "Where the street have no name (Can't take my eyes off you)"- so most kids would have recognised the song when tghis movie was released.
My favorite 90's rom com. Thank you much for the reaction. I fell in love with Heath Ledger after this movie
Honestly might be my favourite romcom, both of the main actors are so attractive and I love their distinct characters plus the humor is just great Especially the teacher, he gets me chuckling ever single time
Fun fact Joaquín Phoenix joker dance it’s based on heath’s singing scene in this movie, he said that heath is his fav actor and that he wanted to make a tribute to his fav actor
This is my fav RomCom movie of all time. What a cast it has!!! Amazing acting from everyone. Also the movie screenplay is amazing….

You could totally see how thrilled Jaby was during the intro, glad he had fun. I hope you watch Serendipity, Must love dogs and Under the Tuscan Sun. Just 3 of my most loved RomComa, but there are so many good ones.
I think I have seen in some youtube short that Julia Stiles has improvised this table dance which got her chance in Save The Last Dance
He did not chase after her cause he wanted to give her space and cause he knew how upset she was and wanted to give her space to calm down and he was just sitting there and not going after her so he does a romantic gesture for her at the end

This was really fun. Great video you two! Can’t Hardly Wait is a good one that I think the both of you would really enjoy.
Do "she's all that" and the actors in saved by the bell were actually in high school. They just look older for some reason
weird aside: The Smash Mouth version of Can’t Get Enough of You Baby was a cover (made specifically for another movie) and didn’t get released until 1999, after this movie was already filmed
Achara is so beautiful with the world's best accent-- you two should star in your own RomCom! :) "Robin and Joker" haha-- great catch. I didn't even realize that. My old high school used to have archery, but people kept stealing the bows and arrow so they stopped it, my older sister was actually one of them, she stole 2 bows and a few arrows.
Great first installment of a Jab @ the heart.
This one, and the original She’s All That DEFINES teen-flicks for me. Two classics of its genre, and BOTH came out in 1999! Pretty cool :-) American Pie is absolutely legendary, though, it’s just not cheesy like these two :-) Ps. You guys pondered over when exactly Heath died. He died January 22’nd 2008; like a month after wrapping The Dark Knight! Insane he never got to see it :-( That Oscar-win was so deserved!
I love some of Jaby's comments, mainly the disapproving ones 🤣 her peom at the end was my favourite scene!
I learned archery as part of PE (Phys Ed) in the 8th grade. Also, yes there were nachos served in public school. Taco salad, pizza, burgers. Some schools even had actual fast food brands in the cafeteria.
Between this and The Santa Claus, I have an unwavering love of David Krumholz 🤣
My middle school had a nacho bar every day, and also had archery and ballroom dancing as classes
Love this movie with the soundtrack and the storyline with Shakespeare and the theme of outcasts falling in love
I *LOVED* this soundtrack growing up. I watch this probably once a month. lol
Okay my favorite youtubers reacting to my favorite romcom😍❤️😂
This was the first time I saw Heath Ledger in a film. He drew the attention!
This movie came out in July 1999 in my country when I was 14. In June 2000 my family and I were in a very serious car crash, leaving me blinded for a month. This was the movie I requested to "watch" while in the hospital. I had seen it so many times in less than a year (VHS tape) that I knew exactly what was happening based solely on sound, and English not being my native language. That's how much I loved it, and I still do. To me, this is THE teen movie. Another rom-com that I will never tire of, is Notting Hill.
I watched this just after a dark night , it was one of the craziest experiences ever.
This is such a great movie...can't believe I forgot Allison Janney was in this! Equally great is the soundtrack. I have the DVD and the soundtrack CD. Was just listening to the music again just a few days ago. So, so good! Oh, the comment regarding not being able to get the original bands for the songs is way off. The cover songs are a feature not a bug. Letters To Cleo's covers of a couple Cheap Trick songs are amazing. As for the one line you didn't follow at the party early in the flick, Heath says, "I think you should do whatever you want to do." Julia replied with, "Well you are the only one that does," meaning that everyone else is trying to get her to be something she is not.
YES! I enjoy this movie quite a bit. I'm glad you guys had fun also. Dude approved!
How to lose a guy in 10 days is another fav rom com
Yes, these locations still exist. They were famous landmarks before this movie. There’s even still clubs like the one. (My son is, in fact, going to one next week - The El Corzon).
We had nachos… and archery in the public high school in Texas i went to. And as someone who currently lives in tacoma, yes these locations are pretty much still there. Stadium high school actually shares that stadium field with another high school.

Same in Texas as well.
I find A Knight's Tale to be sort of a rom-con but I loved the friendships more then the love interest and thought Kate was much cooler then Jocelyn. My favorite rom-con is Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, and Crazy Stupid Love. It's crazy to me because I think most "rom-coms" can exist within other genres of movies and those can or are marketed towards men but if you slap "rom-con" label on it suddenly it's a chick flick and men seem to abhor them on principle. Don't get me wrong I don't care for most of them myself because most are cliché or full of tropes as not much effort is usually put into them, I think for some reason studios think they don't have to put much effort into them. But there are so decent ones and some aren't even willing to give them a shot just cuz of the preconceived stigma. I had an ex-boyfriend who walked into me watching Little Women (1994 version), if I had asked him if he wanted to watch with me he would have protested in disgust so I was watching it in another room. He came into say something to me, I was only into the movie maybe 15 mins and he sat down watched the whole rest of the movie with me eyes glued to the screen. I was really surprised and at the end he said "that was a really good movie what's it called?" I said "Little Women" he said "Wait that's Little Women? I don't know why but that's not the movie I pictured in my mind when people talked about it. I thought it was going to be a bunch of chicks causing drama and stabbing each other in the back or something. Or they are all just desperate to land a husband or something. Not at all what I thought it was gonna be, I like the story and characters." He ended up joining me watching it the next year too as I use to watch it around Christmas time, kind of a little traditional of mine.
