I think my favourite thing about Grubby's StS videos is that, because he takes his time to read cards, calculate damage and go off on tangents sometimes it's impossible to tell whether he wins or loses a run based on the video length.

The thing about early empty cage is you get to enjoy its benefits for a longer time than later empty cage. Also you get to stack the extra 2 removals on top of the cheap removals from shops early, which is very impactful for those floors as it's such a large percentage of your initially small deck.

This is one reason to KZread. The temptation to backseat is reduced somewhat. Still, I have never played Slay the Spire and I still found myself yelling "Dagger" as the screen a few episodes ago 😅 I realize, however, that I would not be as good at streaming as the constant distraction of chat would make it extremely hard to think.

It''s definitely the hardest vanilla class, and the most rewarding of knowing the enemy patterns, but it's definitely the most fun too IMHO. ;)

The only tip you need to play this character: Find every way possible to upgrade the Eruption first, then you basically sweep through act 1!

I agree that I did one run with the Watcher and did not like it. It felt so weird and flimsy.... ...untill I realized that dealing a butt ton of damage with just the base deck was kind of the solution 😅

I try really hard not to comment on value/plays because I don't want to backseat but I hard disagree on Cage. Not only does Cage save you money early game allowing you to buy more cards from the shop (massively boosting how focused your early deck can be) but it also ALWAYS saves whatever amount you'd spend on the last two removels Net because you'll never need to spend the highest costs. Yes it is a less initial cost saving but percentage wise it is larger and your effective net saving goes up each time you remove another card. You both get more cards early and more cards later. It is just better earlier than later. But never bad unless you have large deck synergies.

A better way of saying it is that inflation in slay the spire run makes it so whenever you buy cage it is good unless you added to many cards to your deck. When you have more access to gold removing cards also costs more. Cage's value goes up with inflation but early game you have low gold and less cards so it has more effective value. Like when loans allows money to be in two places at the same time, early gameCage allows you to both have the 2 removal and the cost of the two at the same time when you have the least gold. This having a much more effective gold than normal. Not sure if that was just more confusing but comparing it to inflation/loans seems more appropriate to me.

Ah I cant stand the watchers stance gameplay but i find mantra/stacking dam fun.

This hero is known to be able to win with its base deck up to boss of Act III.

The math is embarrassing.

lol, no. She's easily the most broken character, especially at higher ascensions. You just have to find one block solution (talk to the hand/mental fortress mainly) and not end your turn in Wrath. It's not *always* the best choice, but her ability to double the damage of strikes means you can focus on removing more cards earlier and go infinite with Rushdown and stance swapping.

Agreed, the other classes typically have a tough dillemna between having to take attacks early to have enough frontloaded damage to fight act 1 elites and slavers/ gremlin boss in act 2, but those attack typically range from extremely bad to merely passable after that stage. Instead Watches attacks card generate block, mana and cards later in the game with the cards you mentioned and the power that draws two when you enter wrath and you just keep making block mana and cards by constantly stance switching. Her frontloaded damage i salso so crazy that she can almost always take the path with the maximum amount of elites in act 1 and 2 even at ascension 20.
