@@RightManWrongPlace I really hope you look at "Like a Weed, Naturally as a Matter of Course" next! I feel like a lot of people sleep on it (Also keep looking into the lyrics please! Daisuke puts a lot of the character's stories into the songs seeing as he is one of the creative leads for the series as a whole)

He looks younger after draining his victim's life force, then uses that stolen life force and puts it all in one massive punch, so he's his older self again.

I would highly recommend also listening to "Name of Heaven" and "Talk about you" from the Strive track. A lot of people miss them completely because they're end credit songs but they're, IMHO, the some of the best tracks in the OST and are absolutely beautiful.

The "filling for Bankruptcy" thing is a funny joke. Slayer enjoys Haiku, but he isn't very good at writing them, and when he wins a match, he has that pose with his wife Sharon, where both of them recite an Haiku. Slayer recites the first bit, Sharon the second bit, and then both recite the last part, and for each of those parts they recorded a bunch of different sentences, and then they made it so that the choice of each bit is randomized, which means you often get some bizarre haiku that makes no sense, some are super funny, and on occasion you get a really great combination. It's a really funny bit they did.

4:34 when he drinks blood he becomes younger and he uses up all those years for that one final punch, basically meaning if he threw that punch before drinking blood hed age so fast and die its pretty cool

"Where did his facial hair go?" Fair question. He can control what age he looks; he just normally looks a little older because it makes him seem more distinguished. As a man of 45 years myself, I am inclined to agree. 😅

Don't apologize for trying to analyze the lyrics, it's fun ^^ And yeah, Slayer is a vampire, so he'll never die of old age- And his wife, the woman he's with in this video, is a human who by a quirk of reality has become immortal. She lets him drink her blood whenever he needs to, so he'll never die of hunger either (unless they break up I guess) Because of this, Slayer's kinda got an ever-lasting life ahead of him, and he's already fairly old (likely 1000+) He's mentor and/or personal friend to several other characters of the series, preferring a sorta hands-off approach to world affairs and see if the humans can handle it on their own. In general his relationship with humanity is a bit peculiar, what with him not being a human himself. ("Watching humans" is one of his favorite hobbies) Infinite time also means infinite hardships of course, but it also means infinite joy, so Slayer chooses to focus on the good rather than the bad, and thus has a pretty chill attitude overall. Still the theme's lyrics also vaguely hint at some not so nice stuff from his life- The first verse alludes to the extinction of seemingly all other vampires except him, leaving him only the company of humans ("The darkness is pierced by the morning sun") The second verse seems to allude to those whom he couldn't help as well as he'd hoped, though people argue over which specific characters. One notable example is Zato-1, who was a protege of his growing up.

This is definitely one of the more catchy themes in Strive. There's a lot of experimentation and differing styles within the soundtrack, as Daisuke really goes out of his way to capture each character with each theme. Theres a healthy mix of everything in there. I feel like what you've listened to so far has been a pretty good slice, with traditional rock (Smell of the Game), progressive rock (Necessary Discrepancy), babymetal (Extras), rock jazz opera fusion (Drift), and a rock ballad (Requiem). Of course, there's a lot more crossover of genres going on here than my descriptions suggest (genres are descriptive, not definitive), but you get the idea. The dominate theme here is Rock, and I love the way Daisuke explores all the many forms of it. If you'd like suggestions from this soundtrack based on any specific attribute (such as catchy, heavy, unique, etc.) Just let me know and I'll do my best to suggest one that foots the bill.

If you want more from Daisuke Ishiwatari (The Composer for Guilty Gear), you can also listen to Blazblue! There is only a few songs with lyrics in them but they are the same level of complex as the songs in Strive in my opinion.

Aight check out either "Strange Sunset"from Street Fighter Ex Plus Alpha, "Rising Dragon" from the same game, "Green Shower" from Street Fighter Ex2 Plus, or "Matador" from Street Fighter Ex 3. The ex series is kinda forgotten but it genuinely has the best soundtracks out of any FG series out there. Ex Alpha Plus being the best.

The lyrics can be very abstract in this game or they can be pretty straight forward like in this song. There's not actually any official lyrics for most of Strives songs including this one so in parts where Naokis pronounciations are particularly wild it can be sort of hard to hear what he's saying. This song in particular is a bit divisive about what he's saying. I mostly agree with this lyric video but the one difference that I don't agree with is the beginning of the second section of the song. I think what he's saying is something like "my friend enjoys a carriage through the plains, holding a platinum knife with a soft fire glow. But his eyes did not shine. What, did he think That he could not be overthrown?", which, if true would be a reference to Slayers time spent as the founder and leader of the assasins guild, whose main work involved assasinating corrupt world leaders, or it could straight up be about a friend of his. The friend in question could be Gabriel, Zato, maybe Potemkin, Venom or Sol. Other than that yeah it's a pretty straightforward song about Slayers philosohies that he's built up after so many centuries alive. He's one of the last vampires alive and he's insanely powerful, far above most other characters. In matches he's clearly holding back, restraining his own arm occasionslly while punching, or when he gets defeated he doesn't pass or or anything, he just lays down and gives his opponent a funny look. He loves people-watching, haiku, and his wife Sharon who is also immortal due to a glitch in her universal code, so to speak. She seems specifically to be effectively immune to physical consequence. Slayer can suck her blood dry until shes an empty bag of skin and she'll be back to normal a moment later I checked and I don't think you've listened to Symphony yet. It's the theme of the character that came out right before Slayer and I think it's my current favorite

I believe Naoki revealed the actual lyrics on his twitter at some point. That section is actually, "My friend enjoyed paradise for the plate, holding a platinum knife with sapphire gloves. But his eyes did not shine - what he needs is an economic overthrow." How you're possibly supposed to get that on a first listen, I don't know, but now I can definitely hear it. It seems to be suggesting that the man's wealth and ability to have anything he wanted is what corrupted him and turned his heart to stone, and what he needs is to lose it all so he can learn the important things of life.
